Convertible Top Issues Part II

My roof is stuck in exactly the same position as jlgInfiniti37.... I'm buying the Consult III Plus & software, since I'm pretty sure the top got stuck when the battery died in mid cycle. Don't want to give the dealer any money yet. I think I can reset the top with the Consult, but need instructions. Anyone able to help?

I haven't had a chance to work on it yet. The software is loaded and ready to go and I'll try to get to it this weekend. Hopefully I'll have some success, but I'll let you know either way. It was a bit of gamble buying the software ($575), but if it works, I'll .save the cost of the dealership.

Ok..... so I spent 4 or 5 hours today using the Consult III Plus..... and my top now works perfectly. It was a lot of trial and error and help from "n559br", who shared his knowledge after I got stuck a few times. The Consult was definitely worth it for me and now I have the unit for whenever I need it. When using the Consult and software you have to know how the top retracts and in what ORDER the parts move...... otherwise you can/will cause damage.......because the Consult moves one part at a time.

I have NOT done this myself, recently I had a bad battery and it went to the open position and would not close. New battery and $175 at the Infiniti dealership for a re-learn, now it seems fine (fingers crossed). I asked for the details of the procedure, and the dealership gave me a hard copy of the ITB for reference.
You need a CONSULT III System as noted above, it was cheaper to do a re-learn one time, but if you're thinking you'll need to do this multiple times, the CONSULT would be a good investment (if you can find one).

Hi....sorry, just got back in town. I wrote down the steps to fix my top, but they are for my car in the position the top was stuck in. The directions for my top might be in a different order than for someone else. Also, my issue occurred when the battery died in mid cycle, so it was definitely a reset issue, where someone else might have a bad hydraulic pump, etc. The Consult is expensive, so better to be reasonably sure it will fix the problem. If someone with the same issue wants to PM me, I'll be glad to go over it with them. I could also make a video of the steps using the Consult, if the top was completely closed....but that could take a while.

Driving home yesterday with the top down I started getting random beeping and I noticed the "roof in operation" graphic on the dash would flash. A minute later it became a constant beeeeeeep and the "roof in operation" became a permanent fixture while in motion. I pulled over and tried to close the roof but no luck. So I finished my drive home wishing I could disable that super annoying beep, LOL.
I plugged in the Battery Tender overnight and this morning was able to close the top. I will replace the battery tomorrow morning (I work from home, so no commute worries). I bought the car used two years ago, so no idea how old the battery is so figure it was just the battery dying.
I hope I do not end up having to go to the dealership for a top relearn, but we will see.

Any idea what the difference is between these two Consult IIIs? Both claim V75 but the price difference is pretty dramatic:

As a follow up, the new battery seems good so far without a top relearn. I was scared at first when I connected the new battery and kept getting the double beeps. But once I started the car and opened/closed the top then shut it back off, no more beeps. I did the window relearn with the window switches and cycled the top a few more times and it seems fine, so far so good!

Looks like CNAuto has changed the tool a little

If it can program the roof (full consult 3 included so I'm assuming it will), I don't see why you'd need to buy a more expensive one on a cd.
