Does anyone have an old one that they replaced? I'd like to get one and create drawings. Or better yet, see if they can be sourced from a manufacturer from a standard catalogue item.

Uggh.
I had the same issue, driving over 5 miles per hour and says roof in operation with beeping. Took to Sewell Infiniti dealership and to their credit they worked on the issue for 6 months off and on. They would think they fixed it and then it would work for a week or two and then do the same thing. They finally gave up...

A mechanical friend of mine took it to his tint shop and did some troubleshooting. He took a look at the center switch and found the connection was "gunked up" with coffee or soda... Replaced the $80 switch and it works fine.

Left flap keeps falling down

HI,

Is this something my brother could help me do?

I have read that you can have the gears made for about 200.00

by the way, its easier to replace the gear itself than the entire linkage.

so, if u r interested, let me know!

[QUOTE=MaribelPerry;4296478]HI,

No need to be a mecanic to do gears replacement, just have to follow instructions include with gears package. Takes around an hour per side to do.

Gears are sold in pair( left and right) and price is 550$ shipping include...Instead of others plastic gears, mine fits for all years vert, they are all steel and never break again.

if you want a pair, just send me an email at guy.menard305@videotron.ca

thanks for your interest !

Thanka

Thanks for the reply.

one more quick question. I took it to a local body shop repair place and they said it could be the motor so the whole flap might have to be replaced. Could that be the case or they are just trying to make some money?

Depends what are the symptoms!?

a broken gear will resulte by a flap falling down or if it's a 2012 or earlier model, the flap will stop and stuck un middle course. Personally, i never heard about a warn motor...Pretty sure you've got a broken gear!
Normal and hat the body shop want to change all the linkage... they do more profits on changing parts!

Convertible issues

I bought my 2009 g37 convertible in 2012 from Infiniti Memphis. 21k miles on it certified pre-owned. Maintained it religiously. No problems until 2018. First time it was rear shelf which took almost a month to get parts and fix. Second time which was 8 months later had to have the motor assembly and trunk latch fixed which was partly under warranty. Not even 6 weeks later it started acting up again.. wouldn't open / close .. beeping while driving.. couldnt get it to open most of the time.. and when it did finally open would have a hard time getting it to close. Took it back to dealer and told them the issues but they couldn't find anything in diagnostic and said its working fine.. 2 weeks later I put it down and it stuck half way open and had to have towed 300 miles to the nearest dealership where they had to manually close it.. said it would cost $5k to replace the hydraulics (motor) but couldn't guarantee that would fix it. Now my top has bad dents on the top where they forced it closed and the trunk no longer works.

Note** when it got stuck open.. it made this almost clicking noise like it was trying to close but then nothing.. almost like that assembly motor went out again but im not a mechanic.. I tried to reset the battery (clear / relearn) and it would do the same thing again.. start to act like it was going to close.. click and nothing.. no beeping or nothing.. just said roof in operation..

I love my car and would be willing to get it fixed.. but don't trust the dealership that "fixed" it but hasn't worked since.. wondered if anyone else had their hydraulics replaced or similar issues.

Any suggestions?!! Explanation of whats going wrong?

That totally sux. Sorry to hear.

When my roof got stuck in that position, I disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes and I was able to close it.

As far as opening it, I have a feeling I have a loose trunk latch b/c when it got stuck, it would say "Trunk open." If I close it, open/close trunk, then it works.

Good luck, but if the dealer put dents in your car, they should pay for it.

Then take it to another dealer.

From this position, the next step, iirc, is for the parcel shelf to go up - does it move at all?
Also, in one of the recent threads there was a post on where you can get Consult software. It's probably the best took for troubleshooting top issues and might be worth the price vs going back to the dealer.

I agree that the dealership should have at least fixed the damage they did. Plus I truly believe they did the damage to the "hydraulics" when they forced it closed. They had to remove the sensors to the top and trunk so the car was "drivable".. software won't help me at this point.. bc there isn't a sensor..

I was hoping someone could look at the photos and tell me if it could have been a hydraulic issue to begin with.. I dont think do bc the top was completely down but the parcel shelf wasn't raising up.. and would make a click noise like a motor was trying to work but stopped.. hence top stuck open and towed to dealership..

Thanks for helping out all!! Appreciate ya.

My trunk is stuck open like jlgInfiniti37. Is there a manual method to close without consult hardware and software. If I need the consult, where can I get that?

I’m going to trick the open or closed sensor on flap to see if it will continue to close. I mapped out the pins before, just have to write them down. Probably in repair manuals too.
