do you think having a 6MT will help or hurt resale value?

For me, it's not so much as how much better the automatics/dct's have become, but more so a feeling of engagement/connection with the car. AT's leave me disconnected from the driving experience, more distracted. Sure there's a price to pay if you're stuck in traffic, in fact if the daily commute is all stop/go, then a manual car isn't too appropriate (unless the driver enjoys the punishment).
Somewhere on this forum or elsewhere someone said, you ride in an automatic, but you drive a manual. I find this to be quite true.

Actually, I own a G37S 6MT sedan... It's a great car other than the challenging clutch and transmission. This has all been discussed in other threads, and professional reviews of this car often raise this point... Anyway, if I was on the market again for a manual transmission car, I wouldn't pick the G. BMW clutches are much more pleasant to use, and the transmission more refined, but I don't like the action of their shifter/gearbox that much (a little too rubbery). Nothing is perfect...

something else to consider is that the 6MT on G37 coupes usually come with better standard equipment (I think they are all Sports models with the upgraded suspension, wheels, fascia and some other stuff)
so make sure you are comparing apples to apples when considering the resale price of 6MT vs Auto
