So here's an update guys, I just came back from the dealership and not good news, they still haven't found what could be the problem. The service writer told me they even contacted Infiniti headquarters to see if they had a solution to the problem and it seems they didn't know the problem either , there advice was to perform the service bulletin to my car which was already done . Im getting frustrated and alilttle impatience now because the cars been there several days and no result . The car is only three weeks old , and this is my third time going to the dealership now about this problem, is it possible I got a lemon?

Maybe.

See if they'll swap it out for a new one

Finally got my car back today! The problem was corrected , the roof of the car wasnt sitting properly in the trunk, The tech said he needed to put more insulation , I tried looking inside the trunk area to see where they put the insulaton and it looks like they put a piece on top of both brown rubber peices inside of the trunk ( one on each side) The brown rubber peices that are coming from each rear shock i believe . He said it was hitting the back window whenever the roof was folded in the trunk. Now the car doesnt bang or anything so im glad the problem was corrected

Glad to hear the issue is fixed!! Sounds like your rear window could one day crack if the issue wasn't fixed banging every time you had the roof down.

Glad to hear it. My G37 convertible still rattles and bumps, I need to take it in. The dealership had it for 3-4 weeks last year. It's embarrassing to have other people in my car.

The banging sound with the top down is gone , but I still have the rattling
Noises when the top is up even after the service bulletin was done , very annoying but I'll deal with it , looks like everyone is having this problem

Take it back to the dealer. It could be something else.

installed pads

I had banging noises on rough roads with top down. Could not duplicate for dealer. I noticed that the rear of the top rests metal to metal on back two metal pads. I could move top side to side and get noise. I bought some hard-rubber pads and cut them to size. Put on each rear support. Very quiet. worked for me.

This is exactly what the dealer did , but the Pieces of felt they are using keep wearing out because it hits frequently , I've had to return to the dealer several times already for this problem, this is very frustrating because every so often I have to keep bringing back the car cause there's no permanent fix

interesting

I tried felt first and noticed rapid wear. I am trying ACE hardware "rubber cups" 51262. They are pretty hard and i hope they last a while. My dealer expressed no knowledge any fix. Very frustrating. Infiniti could fix this right.

This is ridiculous that we have to take it upon ourselfs and fix it , I'm am very displeased with all the noises this convertible makes top up or down. I Even contacted Infiniti consumer affairs about this problem and I asked them shouldn't the lemon law apply here because the dealer could not fix the car and only put a temporary fix , which I have to keep going back every couple months for them to put in a new piece of felt . They didn't seem to be much helpful and continued to say the lemon law does not apply to problems like that

They will never say Lemon Law applies, they have to take the loss. Go to a Lemon Law site or a attorney, you will definitely get the issue fixed or a new car, or all your money back + interest + lawyer fees & etc! When you truly scare them the right way, they will either give you another car or find a solution or get screwed

Where are the noises coming from.My vert has 5000 miles on it.It started getting rattling noises around 4000 miles from the rear quarter piler.I had the wife drive and I sat in the rear seat.I stuck my hand up in the head liner and moved tithe wires around and the rattle stopped.I opened the top about half way to get access to the inside quater pilar. There are plastic clips that hold down the wires. They clip into a hole in the metal quarter pillar. The plastic clip will rattle in the hole.I applied a small amount of 100% silicone around the hole so the clip can not move.Problem fixed. There are 3 to 4 on each side.I just hope it lasts.

Lemon Law applies to the total number of days the vehicle is out of service, at least it did in California. Only reason I have an '11 vert instead of my '08 coupe
