Installed R2C
#16
Stevelam, I was looking at Stillen Gen 3. There were two things that made me go with R2C instead - one, simple install with no cutting. My car is new, and dealer here has problem with mods, As it is, I can go back to stock quickly.
Secondly, R2C filters are supposed to be the best, and unlike K&N are dry, not oiled. Since Kuwait is officially the dustiest place on earth (go on youtube and search for 'kuwait dust storm' to see what I mean), I wanted the best dust filter possible.
I've only installed my R2C few days ago so I can't say anything about how often I would need to clean it. R2C claims once very 12,000Km, but I am sure I would also need to do it after each dust storm. On the other hand, cleaning is simple, just blow it from inside out using compressed air.
One more thing...any long tube intake (which usually means a true cold air intake) will generally produce more HPs, but at higher RPM. I drive in a city, I don't really need few extra HPs at 6K, 7K RPM. I would much rather get few HPs less but in a more usable RPM band, and this is what R2C seems to do.

anyone concerned with defaulting the warranty?
i called the stealership yesterday and they said no & yes.
no if nothing is wrong, and yes it will cancel your warranty if anything were to ever happen that could be the result of the air intake. (ingestion of water, etc.)
[but with a 20min install & removal.. that could be 'taken care off' no?]

When I installed mine, (with the hood ajar but not up) I measured the clearance from the top of the radiator shroud to the bottom of the hood and used that as a reference point for the final mounting by subtracting this value from the height of the top of the R2C airbox to determine the exact attachment point of the bracket.
I also used a rubber washer between the R2C bracket and the airbox mounting hole before installing the bolt to isolate the opportunity for any buzzing or noise.
Good luck.
