Spare Tire kit/Tire/Labor

Since the wind screen no longer fits in the trunk, maybe I should give it a try before deciding to pass it on. BTW, I feel better knowing that I now have the spare in the trunk after 9 months of driving the car without one.

I agree with this opinion.
Since I rarely travel with more than a single passenger, I almost always leave the wind screen in place. It really makes a big difference in terms of having "crazy hair" vs. something "slightly windblown" when I arrive after top-down travels.
I did, however, notice last weekend that the guy at the car wash was actually climbing up ON TOP of the thing to clean the back window!!!
Next time I take the car for a bath, the wind screen stays at home.

Looks like the bag the the tools and towing eye were in originally before being squeezed into the new "tool holder". I put my empty tool bag and 1st aid kit in that large empty space for no particular reason other than there aren't a lot of other places to stow things once the spare is in place. My uninstalled front license plate fits nicely on top of the tool holder.

While I was at the dealer today, I inquired at the parts department about adding the spare tire kit, spare tire and installation to my car. Here's the break down:
TBILL-S0559 Bridgestone T145 $221.13
999W5-JV000 G37 Conv, Spare Tire kit $253.00
1 Hr Labor $120.00
Tax $ 28.45
========================================
Total $622.58
I think I can get the rubber cheaper elsewhere and bring it to the dealer for the rest of the stuff. Sure wish my car came with the spare option.

I finally picked up my spare tire & rim yesterday (after 2 weeks of self-induced runaround with my dealer.) For a 2011 convertible, the kit part number above is correct: 999W5-JV000. The correct tire part # is TBILL-S0576 (as posted by sled.) The tire above (TBILL-SO559) is a 17 inch diameter tire, and won't fit the 18 inch spare rim (as my dealer discovered when he tried to mount it.) It is also $100 more (list.)

Anyone know details of maximum speed or how long you can drive on this spare for? I got a flat and it seems like my tire is backordered So I may have it for a week or my other choice is to have Michelin in the front and Bridgestone in the back.

Order your tire from tirerack, they should have your tire in stock. Its faster and cheaper than most shops. For the max speed, there should be a speed rating on the tire.
