Extended Warranty on Convertible?

Hi All,

New convertible owner here. Picked up a 2010 Convertible for a pretty good price (at least I think I did) as the dealerships were trying to clear it out for the 2011s.

Anyways, did anybody go out and get the extended warranty? I am considering it because the top worries me. I figured if the top breaks once after the warranty, the extended warranty will already pay for itself. But if it doesn't, I am out 2k.

Speaking of which, they want $2350 to bump the warranty to 7 years 120k miles. Is that about the same price that is going around? Or can I get a better deal?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

congrats.
I have ext warranty on my convertible 7 yrs, 120K. It should be about $2k or less. I think I got it from not the selling dealer but from another dealer for much better price. You can do thee same. You have 30-90 days to buy the Infiniti's extended warranty. If you want my contact, send me PM with your email.

Incorrect, you have until the day before the car's warranty to buy the extended warranty. 3 years and 364 days or 59,999 miles.

Oh, and It's 8 years 120K.

To the OP, now that you are no longer under the stress of the finance manager, you can go back to the dealer, and offer him/her $2,000.00 for the 8 year/120K
Elite policy. Explain to them there are a dozen Infiniti dealers selling them online.
They will gladly accept your offer.

I forgot to mention, I did just that at 6 months, 6,011 miles.
My warranty is now extended to 8 years 6 months, and 126,011 miles. ZERO $$ deductible.
I offered $1,900.00, and it was accepted!

You then have 60 days to cancel the policy for a full refund, Infiniti will not send you the contract until the
60 days have past.

That's good but in 2009 the rules were different or at least that's what I was told. when I got mine vert in 2009.
I got extended warranty (7 yrs, 100k) and full maintenance (4 yrs, 60k)paid for $2200.
The lesson is shop around and don't have to buy Ext.warranties from selling dealer.

I would definitely get that warranty for the roof if nothing else. When that thing fails/wears out (not if), it is going to cost a fortune to get fixed or replaced. If I was planning on keeping my 'vert, I would go for it.
With GM the deal was you had up until expiry (3 yr/60,000 Kms) to buy an extended warranty. HOWEVER, the price went up as time went on. It was a lot cheaper when new versus two years later.

This is exactly why I lease cars haha... if the top breaks during the 3 years I have the car, it isn't really my problem (unless my stupidity caused it to break)... the idea of an extended warranty for a car with as many moving parts as these convertibles do is a no brainer... good luck and congrats on the new car!

Yes,

I never got the extended warranty on any of ours Infiniti's except 2009 G37 convertible specially for the hardtop roof and the deal was so good that the non selling dealer threw in 4yr/60 miles maintenance plan at no charge with zero deductible on both.

Same deal with Infiniti, at least here in Canada. I have 3 yrs or 60K to purchase the extended warranty and the price does vary depending on when you sign up. I'm waiting till the last moment as we're thinking to trade up

Ford tried that with my Expedition, its a bunch of bull.
I bought a 7 year 70K on the last day of my warranty which was 3 year 36K.
At half the price it was offered when new.

Everything is negotiable.

My 2010 vert came pre-certified with a 6 year/100K warranty. They tried to up sell me another year, but I decided to pass for now. You have time if you want to up your warranty as long as the one you are on doesn't expire.

Thanks for everyone's responses!

I will probably get the extended warranty. I guess it comes down to when I can get the best deal before my current warranty expires.

Really?!! Does the extended warranty NOT cover the roof? If so, I doubt an extended warranty on rest of an Infiniti is worth it. But, if the roof is included, its a must.
