We have sent the "official certified letter" to consumer affairs as instructed and are awaiting a response. At this point, i have talked to them on the phone and agreed to take it back to the dealer (this is the dealer that we purchased from, and have always gone to). We have an appointment on Monday for the "Regional Technical Specialist" to make their recommendation on the leak. They have also told us that they were going to replace the seat belt mechanisms again (with the 2011 style retractors).
We shall see. I have little faith in this car being fixed now and I am just going through the required motions.

Who is your contact at Consumer affairs? If it is the same person that I dealt with... I can totally understand your frustration. My car had to have the engine rebuilt at 7K miles due to an oil consumption issue. Dealing with Consumer affairs was infuriating! My car was out of service for 35 days! Consumer Affairs contacted me to find out the status of my vehicle and to notify me that they were going to give me an extended warranty prior to the car being completed. I have not received even one follow-up call since having the car returned to me.
Now just this weekend the 'Service Engine Soon' light came on. Joy!

Usually Infiniti is better than this..but it depends on the region.
I always tell them I am VP of Public Relations for a large electronics firm - and that I deal with the nation's largest PR firms and over 600 bloggers. That fact usually scares the **** out of them as they don't want social media and bloggers on their bad side.
You can also post on Infiniti's fan page on Facebook your problem - which should get their attention.
Just a thought.

From my experience, I would get a lemon law attorney and go thru the lemon law to get it replaced. Dealers get paid to service the warranty work so bringing it back each time is pointless because they are not resolving anything. Deep down you aren't going to be happy because you will always think--what next. I've met with a rep from Honda and Mitsubishi and have gotten a run around. Get it replaced and be happy with a new ride, you have a solid complaint--a leaking top is as major as the engine. You can also file a small claims court case incase they won't give you any budging on price if you financed it--meaning they will charge you the same price what you paid for in the begining. Talk to your attorney first. Threats are ok, but manufacturers know the laws and assume most consumers won't push ahead because of the time it takes plus getting an attorney. Get the car replaced and attorney fees and nothing else. You will probably have it resolved in about 3- 6 mos. Good Luck!

Well. We have had the car back for a couple of weeks now, and it will not rain! We have had a couple of days with a slight drizzle, but not enough to really prove anything. I've spoken with CA again, and they have verbally agreed to repurchase the vehicle if it leaks again since we allowed them to perform this "last" attempt at repair.
Bring on the rain.

I agree... why wait. Go to town on the thing with a hose or sprinkler or both lol. If it passes that test take it through one of those new high pressure no contact washes. If it makes it though all that with no leaks then you can rest assured that rain wont do anything to it.

Well, we finally got rain a couple of weeks ago, and guess what.... still leaks. CA says that they are processing the paperwork for repurchase but it's been a couple of weeks with little updates. I am trying to be patient as everything seems to be progressing, but I am disappointed. This car is amazing. Such a joy to drive, especially with the top down. Too bad I don't live in Southern Cal or somehwere that it never rains much. Will keep you guys posted.

CRAZY STORY. ALMOST LOOKS LIKE YOUR CAR HAD FRAME DAMAGE. AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH NEW AMOUNT OF WEATHER STRIPPING WAS ADDED, THE CAR STILL HAD A GAP. thats just my opinion on it...
but i have a similar story about consumer affairs. bought a brand new 2010 g37s coupe, and from day 1 noticed a slight clunking noise the last 2 rotations of the crankshaft when turning the car off. didnt think anything of it, but it was EVERY time the car turned off. then it would happen the first 2-3 rotations of the crankshaft when the car would turn on... again i had more faith in inifiniti than to complain.... then, it would rattle upon acceleration from 1500-2500rpm! that got me worried already, and the finall kicker was rattle on idle. that was it, car had about 2k miles and i brought it in. also since day one, noticed strange black spotting on the 19"rims. thought it was normal. found out, its not. the powdercoat was missing in tiny groups, and the black primer was what i was seeing.
1. was told all these cars have this noise, and its normal. i told the service guy, no way. this is a bearing issue.- again, pretty much was made into a fool, and car was dismissed.
and was told the rims are normal- GO HOME.
another 500miles driven and its getting louder, brought it back, test drive with service manager, again told this is normal, and that im crazy.
another 500miles or so, and brought it back... now its loud as h3ll upon idle, and totally embarrassing. again told its normal... and they told me to try to change my oil to synth/ester. tried it for on their dime and didnt fix the issue.
so i called Consumer Affairs; took 2 months to work with a woman that i eventually named Darth Vader. sounded exactly like him... and half the time must have been eating something as she spoke. then it was my time to speak, and id finish... and a 4-5second pause as she again would repeat some corporate friendly rebuttal. during the time that i spent working with her, i brushed up on NJ Lemon Law. it took me the point of wear 2months was about to cross into 2months and 1week, and i lost it. i told her that if in the next phone call my car didnt have a new transmission, and my rims were not replaced: i was going to contact my uncle who happens to be an attorney. i named back a few key points of the law that i already qualified for/or have gone through, and that if im pushed further, i will begin the process. - in 2days the head service manager of the dealership called and told me he test drove a few similar cars like mine, and not a single one made that noise, and he is ordering a completely brand new transmission for my car, and during that time the rims will be replaced. (this guy i never dealt with before- but he knew he stuff. and he was really concerned about my car & my view on everything. idk where he came from, or where he was before, but from now on, he is the only person i deal with.)
- 1week later tranny came in, 3 days after the car was running like new & rims were fixed.
my suggestion, if you cant get past consumer affairs; you need to lawyer up instantly.
lemon law is pretty complex, and detailed.
not everyone can literally pull teeth, and be assertive enough and know enough about cars to get the CA office on track.
