another newbie! - anyone using the wind deflector?
Hi, all! I've only had my convertible for a couple of days, but I love it. Midnight garnet with graphite interior, wheel, nav., interior and premium packages. I haven't taken pictures yet (sorry!). It also has the wind deflector, and I was wondering if it was worth the purchase. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet. Do many of you use it? Thanks!

umm.. yes it is very worth it if u bought it even though most got it thrown in with the car besides me.. it stops u from getting a wicked ear ache if ur driving on the highway for more than a few hours. looks kinda cool as well plus it keeps my 2 little dogs safe and sound under it in the back seat when the roof is off or can hide ur luggage kinda. when ur not using it there is enough space in the trunk to store it under the flat carpeted section where the spare would usually go, but in this case the tire repair kit.

First off -
Welcome & congrats on your new ride!
Now, to answer your question. I recently picked one up on eBay, brand new, in the box for $350. I use it but dont really notice that much of a difference. The aerodynamics and wind buffetting design of the G are great and there arent many in cockpit turbulence at all. The wind screen helps a little but I would run out to go get one if you really dont need one.
I do however agree with Steve - it looks cool!

Mine came with the car as standard. Not been using it these last few weeks as Switzerland is roasting (for Switzerland) at the moment with 36C / 97F and you need the wind in your hair, but it's fantastic when the temp goes below 15C/59F or I'm on a motorway doing 100+ mph (gotta love the German autobahns ) Really notice the difference then.

As I've learned in my Miata the wind blocker makes biggest difference is when you roll the windows up... completely stops the draft that comes up the center. So in 100 degree weather makes it bareable, with the AC blasting. I'm sure those cool fall mornings it will make a difference too.
We leave ours in all the time since we don't use the back seats for anything but luggage and what nots.

It's really worth it mostly for women worried about their hair. It definitely works as promised. You'll probably end up not using it as much as you thought you would, but I'm really glad I have the option.

Agreed. I have used it and with the windows up and the top down there is almost no wind in the cabin. I much prefer driving with no deflector and windows down, but on the highway, or with my wife it is better with the deflector.
