If your one touch module is working fine then you don't need one...

Thumbs up Top down with a key fob.

Hello. I had posted about a company called Mods for cars about a year ago. They have been making systems for drop tops for Mercedes and Porsches for a few years. Drop your top with a key fob as you are walking to the car. VERY cool!
I got an e-mail tonight showing a demo. I can't wait! They will not be cheap. It will be a few hundred dollars. I personally couldn't see the use of a system where you had to be sitting in the car to hit the button twice. This will be more expensive but pretty cool.

Just an FYI.

I didn't post the video for two reasons: I am not sure if they want me to yet (although it's already on facebook) and I am not sure what the "correct" procedure is with non-sponsors?

I got another e-mail tonight with some more facts:
"Hello,

we are working on it right now and what you see is a first demo.

Tomorrow we will finish the product and start adding it to our online shop system. It will be available in about 8-12 weeks because of
the manufacturing time of the wiring harness.

Best Regards, Sven Tornow

if takes 8-12 weeks for wiring harness then install can't be simple, and the summer weather is now in So. Calif:>!

No idea what's involved in the install. I don't sell the product, I am just getting the word out.

The "perfect timing" comment was mine based on living in the Great White (frozen) North.

I think this post may have just sold a G37 Convertible to ME I have a SmartTop module in my SLK and love it. Having access to it was one reason i was looking for another Mercedes instead of the Infiniti.

Can't wait to hear about it. A 5 minute install would be great. I rip my smart top out of my SLK every time i take it in to the shop (too often) and its about a 20 minute job every time and thats after a lot of practice.

Hopefully he is not being too "optimistic". Of course he has probably personally done hundreds. I would be REAL happy if the realistic install time is 20 minutes.

In that video there is a side marker light that is amber near the door. What's up with that? Is that new on the 2011?

I am pretty sure a side marker light is a lighting requirement in Europe. Its probably just a European model.

Question To Jake

How does the Smart Top work? One click to lower the windows and two clicks to lower the roof? Or do you have to hold your key fob button down until roof starts dropping? Same questions when raising the top.

Thanks!
