R&T - MB Powered V12 Infiniti Q?
Road & Track
June 3, 2010 Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn recently held a press conference in Japan regarding the Nissan/Renault-Daimer Benz partnership. In his statement, he said that the next 370Z may come with a Mercedes-Benz engine, he also said that the next-generation G and M cars will likely be built on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class platform. Our sources say this is all but a done deal. When you look at the exterior dimensions for the Infiniti G, M and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, you realize that this marriage is a natural. The overall length and wheelbase of the E-Class fits right between the two.
Nissan will likely also borrow Mercedes-Benz’s diesel engine, notably the V-6, to place into the G and M. Nissan’s VQ V-6 and V-8 powerplants will probably remain since Nissan engineers feel strongly that their V-6 and V-8 are a better fit in their cars, but don’t be surprised to see a M-B V-12 powering a new, revived Q45 built on the S-Class platform in the future. More on this and other possibilities later this week.

LOL, I'd say I'm one of the most hopeful / optimistic people here and even I know that's bull.
There is something about having Merc engines, too. Maybe it will be good for Nissan but I know that Nissan is capable of building some fantastic engines when they want to. I also don't understand the desire for underpinning the G and M with the E class platform. What is Infiniti these days? Performance, Grand Touring, neither?

A 4.7 liter TT V8 making 435HP/516LB.FT and a 3.5 V6 making 306HP/273LB.FT. Supposedly, the new V6 has been built to be turbocharged in the future. They also have DI and stop-start technology. They also have a new 5.5 liter TT V8 coming out, 563HP/664LB.FT.
There are lots of possibilities for Infiniti if they use any of these engines in the future.

I hope that infiniti don't borrow Mercedes's engine except diesel engines ..
If it still borrow engines , platforms , systems of Mercedes , it will be a part of German style not Japan.
then
what about logos "may be , they change it..."

The current European Infiniti lineup consists only of the G coupe and sedan, FX and EX. Only the FX and EX will be available with a diesel. The G desperately requires smaller engines in order to be competitive.
Most of their sales are in Russia and Switzerland. The rest of Europe pretty much hasn't heard of Infiniti yet.

I don't know about the idea of Infinity with Mercedes engine. Infinity needs to be Infinity, not a re badged or water down Mercedes, unless they have given up on Infinity brand and just throw in the tower.
