Edmunds - Infiniti M Coupe - Early Look

Does nissan in japan have any coupe that could fill the part for an infiniti on the state side? For every infiniti there has been a jdm counterpart.
I'm sure nissan doesn't want to build a car that will take sales from the gtr but at the same time you don't see gtrs vs m6s, s5s, e classes, ect, but you do see them against porches, r8s, galliardos (sp) so having a lux coupe to compete with these classes makes a lot of sense. They gotta give us something.

Hypothetically speaking, and I'm just estimating numbers, let's say Infiniti introduces a performance G line at 400 hp at pepple beach for 2011. In less than a year, a newly remodeled 2012 G series comes out at about 380hp with a performance vehicle of about 450hp. Wouldn't that make the 2011 vehicle somewhat irrelevant?
My belief is Infiniti would take this time to put their money, labor and development into the remodeled vehicle which would see a 4+ year shelf life instead of a one with a one year shelf life.

The Infiniti Performance Line is the same thing as Nismo. It's just stuff like exhaust, air filters, wheels, brakes, springs, shocks, etc. It's not like Mercedes' AMG, BMW's M, or even Lexus's F. The IPL is just accessories you can buy at the dealer.

Those high performance luxury vehicles have a very small market. Infiniti isn't in the position right now to produce vehicles like that. Look at the Lexus IS-F, Lexus is a much more established brand when compared to Infiniti yet it is still having a lot of problems selling the IS-F.

Say No to M: Infiniti Not Planning M Coupe, New G Models Headed to Pebble Beach
An Infiniti spokesperson tells us the notion of an M coupe is “so far off the charts, it’s incredible.” The tease, released earlier this week during the official drive program for the 2011 QX sport utility, does tease two “product extensions” that will be launched at Pebble -- one designed to be a “volume-oriented” luxury vehicle; the other a “performance-oriented” offering.
Our source also offered that “it’s fairly obvious” what the sketch previews. In fact, after lining up the brush strokes to profile shots of Infiniti’s passenger car lineup, we’re fairly certain both vehicles are based off the G sedan and coupe.
