I'd bet a lot of money that the JATCO 7AT will make it to the 09 MY G Coupe and Sedan. I seriously can't see Infiniti waiting until 2010 to catch up to the competition when they are already behind today.

If the 7sp tranny pans out for '09, I know of three buyers instantly. Myself being one. Are you reading this Infiniti internet browsers?

The European version of the G37 already has the 7sp so hopefully it will make it into the '09 American version.

Make it 4 buyers.

in the newest issue of car and driver it haves the new 370Z which said to have the G37 engine and feature the GT-R Dual clutch transmission so 7gears for the 370 i think the G37 will have it

lol 1mpg? maybe 2 on the highway. It all depends how heavy your foot is, and mine's pretty heavy so i'm sure i'd see no increase.

It really all depends on how the decide to go with the gearing. Right now we are pullling a little over 3200 rpm at 80mph. with the 7AT there will definitely be two overdrive gears meaning one of them will be relatively long. Its possible to expect 3-4mpg increase possibly a little more.

How much of an improvement remains to be seen. I'd love to see an improvement of 3-4mpg especially on the open road but that would be a strectch.......

I say wait and see what the real world results are. If you rush into a decision too quickly before getting all the facts, you're bound to make a choice that you'll regret later on....

I took a G37S for a test drive on Friday and the salesman made no mention of the 7A making it into the 09. As much as I'd love to get the VR G37S asap, I'm gonna wait till the 7A come out.

Even if a salesman did know, he would likely keep the truth from you... at least at this time of year. These guys have a bunch of 08s they need to move (and probably yield better commission incentives), along with individual monthly sales quotas. To mention any significant benefits of an inbound new model can be sales suicide... the longer a prospect puts his purchase on hold, the more chance there is that he finds another dealer to sell to him (or another brand entirely).

A week ago (during my 2nd visit to the showroom), I asked my local guy when he thought the 09 G37 might hit... you know what he tried telling me? November-December. Only when I pointed out the 08's release date did he back-peddle (pun intended) and say "my bad, you're right - I forgot" lol

The rep that I've been speaking with told me the '09's had a tentative late Aug to mid Sept release date. He's been up front with me. He's a cool guy, older gentleman, laid back surfer. He said that's the last he had heard but that he hasn't had any updates to those dates. He wasn't try to sell me one off the lot. He didn't have any details on specs for it as an official release hasn't been announced. Excellent rep.
