First WFL/CFL Lakeland Meet - Planning Thread
This thread is going to be for the discussion of a joint WFL/CFL Meet in Lakeland, Florida. Lakeland is about halfway between Tampa and Orlando, so it's a good location for the Orlando and Tampa crews to get together for a Meet.
Once the time, date, and location have been decided, we'll post a new thread with that information in it. We had a single thread for the meeting discussion and the meeting announcement for the last WFL Meet, and it got a bit confusing.
If anyone knows of a good restaurant in Lakeland that has good parking for our cars, this is the thread to post in. Here's a Lakeland restaurant list I found in Mapquest. Foo_G and geioushi have connections in Lakeland, so hopefully they'll chime in too.
My thoughts for a Lakeland Meet are that it might be best on a Saturday late afternoon or evening. It would be pretty difficult to drive that far on a workday. I know it takes me an hour to get through Tampa at 5 or 6pm on a weekday and I suspect driving through Orlando is just as bad.
We should probably allow a couple of weeks to get everyone on board. How does Saturday, May 20th sound?
Thoughts?

May 20th is not a good date for those planning to attend the Zdayz event in North Carolina which spans from May 19th to the 21st.
Some other reserved dates are:
June 3rd - Gainesville track day by audiblemayhem & beddow
July 8th - Hot import nights at Orlando Convention Center, I think some FGC guys are entering this like suaveyankees, chucky...I may enter too if it helps us win best team award provided that enough people join in.
I'm sure there are other events i'm forgetting...

Ian, I love your sigs.
I'm down for a meet. If it's going to be on a Saturday night, I'll need 2 weeks in advance to take off. If it's before 6, I'm game.

Let's change the date to Saturday, May 13, 2006. That still gives us over two and a half weeks to plan for the event. That should be enough.
If we can narrow the restaurant choice down to two or three places by this weekend, I'll drive over Sunday afternoon and check them out for parking.
Thanks for the heads-up on the dates, Ian.

Sounds good to me and I'd like to cast my vote for Don Pablo's. They usually have tables that can be gouped easily.
What ever the location. I'd be happy to go out and do a little investigative reporting.

If we have any vegans ... many what are you thinking ... I am sure they have salad too
I'll see if I can get some feedback on the TCC and post back soon.
