How much money would you take if someone offered to cut your arm off?

And Alan takes off the gloves.

Workers' comp (which I used to do) usually uses the Florida Impairment Guides. My office usually uses the AMA Guides for BI and PI cases (which I now do) so I pulled the book. I couldn't find it online.

Page 441, Fig. 16-2, is the identical picture and ratings as used by the Florida Guide. Go figure.

Losing a thumb in itself is a 22% whole body impairment whereas losing a ring or little finger completely is only a 5% whole body impairment for each one. That's using the AMA Guides.

So what's the left nut, 3 toes, 2 fingers and a few broken ribs worth? That's about as far as I'd go...

Ribs have no ppd...I am too lazy to calculate losing your tentacle, but the shock value to an all male, under 40 jury would be enormous...

Yeah, I've never done comp at all, Gilley. I don't believe there is an online AMA guide, either. I have the 5th edition here, but as I said yesterday, someone 'borrowed' it again. In fact, I sent a nasty little email last night but the 'return fairy' hasn't deposited it in my office, yet...

I'm surprised I haven't gotten any emails about returning the AMA guides back to the library. I still have it in my office. Ooops.

At the rate the public library charges for overdue books, you may end up cutting off your left arm just to cover the late fees.... ha ha

I just end up buying this crap on my own, or compiling my own volumes of case law and such, and someone comes and "borrows" it and doesn't return it. I mean, I'm all for helping anyone out--especially the new crowd, but when you borrow stuff, bring it the f*** back lest I cut someone's arm offa for absolution...

90% of all men and woman **********....the other 10%....no arms! Now if you're only giving up one arm....lol..then there are some great paddle shifters out there that you could use a prosthectic on and not be stuck in an AT like I am now!
