So i don't know if I'm the first to swap an awd sedan, I've seen posts about coupes before. Got my transmission bolted up today, got the wrong transmission support brace so need to order the right one. Had my buddy machine me a spacer for the driveshaft, hearing on a post about a coupe it was 7/8 too short. After the spacer its still about another inch too short. Just wanted to warn anyone else who is thinking if Making a spacer for it. I'm personally gonna look into a custom driveshaft now.

I ended up ordering one from godzilla raceworks. Haven't received it yet but they're made to order. I did start it up on Sunday and it shifts into the proper gears. Have it up on jack stands and i watches the way the front wheels were turning. It was also super loud with just the isr long tube headers on it.

If you don't mind me asking how much did that run you and I looked into doing the swap how hard was it for you to do? Did you have to cut anything?

Driveshaft and the required adapter flange were $900. Only thing i had to cut was the hole in the bell housing for the crank sensor.

if your car has the 3 bolt differential flange w/ flex coupler you will also need to cut the end of the pinion gear shaft almost down to the threads for the Godzilla raceworks driveshaft to fit.

Lucky me, ny differential flange was a 6 bolt flex coupler.

I changed the title to include "transmission". It came off as a full engine/transmission swap.


As far as the transmission goes feel free to include pics or description of parts used if you wished to share these.

I like to believe that the answer might be in the combination of a few Nissan/Infiniti driveshafts and you'll find the right one.

There was a post on FB about someone using a 2001 crown vic driveshaft with the Nissan snout welded and was boltable.

It wouldn't surprise if a combo from a Q50/Q60 or EX35/37, M35/37/56 could have the potential for the length needed and let you use smaller spacers or be able to be boltable.

I'd bet there is a nissan driveshaft that would fit, m series or fx series would be a good place to start given the longer wheelbase. I also was able to install my transmission dipstick on the vr30 transmission as well. Don't know if the level is accurate but at least i have a fill spot. My biggest concern is everything goes well once i get it on the ground. When i initially upgraded my oem transmission and reinstalled it was in limp mode. Found i had a connection in the wrong place.

Driveshaft should be here tonight or tomorrow. One other thing i did while i had everything apart is swap my old crossmember with one from an awd q50. Design seems better and bolts right up.

The way to tell would be to check the level as if you had no dipstick.
Car level, transmission warmed up, pull the OEM fill bolt and check for drainage.
Add fluid until satisfied with how it drips out the fill once filled.
Turn everything off and give it some time and check your "new" fluid level after.
Scratch/Mark in the disptick the new level and make sure you dont loose anything.

If i remember the fill hole and drain hole are both on the bottom of the pan. Would that method still work?

Yes.

The fill bolt has a tube that protrudes over the oil level, similar to DAM run-off drains once levels pass the opening they excess oil will drain from the front fill hole.

So we're up and running. Drove it down the road a bit. Cruised at 40 fine, full throttle and it jerked hard. Shifted late under hard throttle. Not exactly slipping but like it couldn't decide which gear to go into and slammed into one last minute.

So i re-uploaded my ecutek tune to the car and its running normal now except it says no key even though the key is there. Gonna try a new battery.
