It means that there is still air in the system. If you are getting a lot of bubbles, keep going. If you are getting a small bubble here and there, then I would just shut it off, let it cool completely, seal it up and go from there. Keep a eye on things for the next day or so, especially the level in the reservoir and top off accordingly. IF she overheats, then you have to go through the bleed process again.

So the only indicator that there is still air in the system is if it overheats? I drove it around for 5-10 mins and the temp was steady, a notch or so below the mid point, so it appears ok. We'll see how it does on the way to work tomorrow while I hold my breath, hopefully I'll remember to breath.

It's time for a Tesla, I don't want to deal with mechanical cars anymore, I'm getting too old for this $hit! lol

Thanks again ILM, you're awesome!

A significant amount of air trapped in the system can cause overheating. As I imagine you are only experiencing trace amounts of air, this will eventually get bled out on its own through the reservoir. Just keep a eye on that level over the course of the next few days or so (depending on driving routine). Carry the spare jug of coolant in the trunk for the time being to have on hand.

Be glad these cars are as easy to work on as they are. A coolant flush/ fill is a easy DIY for even the most basic of novices. The newer ones are even more complex and tedious.

As for the EV crap, they have their own issues except, with them, when something goes wrong you automatically have to take it to a dealer ($$$$$).

Good luck and congrats on a job well done.

Correct. If a Tesla has a blowout on the highway, you stand there and wait Tesla to pickup the vehicle and take it to an authorized service center. They will replace the tire and validate that the wheel was not damaged.

As you can imagine, this cost alot more than throwing a donut on and driving to discount tire, or, calling AAA.

Newer cars do not even come with "donuts" or tire jacks anymore. They come with these "Emergency Tire Inflation kits" which are a joke in and of itself (IMO that is):

Between the increasing laziness of most "drivers" combined with the penny pinching auto manufacturers, the whole dichotomy is going down the drain and fast.

This is another of many reasons why I will likely never buy a "new" car. I will not drive w/out a spare tire nor will I stand by the side of the road like a emasculated moron waiting for a roadside service to change my damn tire let alone tow it for a simple tire change. That's my attitude "..and I'm unanimous in that."

And don't get me started on this EV crap, either. LOL. I'm old. Too old to change at this point.

Back to topic...

OMG...so much reading. What the hell is one to do with that kit when they are on the side of the road with a family of 5 headed to Palm Springs for the weekend in 115 degree summer heat? Give me a scissor jack and a spare tire any day of the week!

What's in the bottle? Scotch to drink while you are waiting for AAA to show up and read those instructions to you :-)

Or whatever Continental's version/ formulation of tire "Slime" is.

IMO, spare tires and jacks should, at a minimum, be a optional accessory from car manufacturers. To completely remove that option is negligence on both the manufacturers' and the Federal gov't (again, IMO).

This is a public service announcement to anyone reading this. Just go ahead when you have the time a do a preventive maintenace and change that plastic piece out for a metal one. Don't wanna end up like me. On my lunch break I see the smoke. I figure it's a small leak somewhere that I'll take of it the next day. After work I go to Walmart to get some stop leak. Look closer and I see the piece completely broken. Go back in to get some coolant as I see there's no need for the stop leak now. Well, driving home around 9:30 at night. Only 6 mile trip to my house. Don't feel like waiting for a tow truck as I figure I can make it. Halfway there my engine temp gage shoots to the very top and the car starts smoking, car starts beeping, engine shaking, transmission stops working and starts jerking, gas peddle stops working. All this happened on a bridge. Thank God is was sort of downhill. Had to put the car in neutral because the car was dragging in gear, and put it back in gear and hit the gas to give it a little push, and I managed to cruise into a gas station, in not the best part of town I might add. Sat there and waited for the car to cool some then put a half gallon of coolant in and made it the rest of the way home. Fixed it the next day and managed to drop the coolant recovery tank cap so i had to drive around for a couple days while a new one came in with a rag wrapped around the hole. That seems to have allowed the air to escape as I didn't need to bleed the system. Car seems to have suffered no permanent damage and drives fine now. Car didn't even take 2 full gallons to fill up surprisingly.

Passenger side heater hose connector replacement should be the first mod anyone does when they purchase one of these cars used.

Guys don't forget there is a bleed screw on the radiator to help get out air when refilling the radiator. Take out this screw and fill up till coolant starts to drip out of the hole then put the screw back in and continue to fill. Tried to post a pic but it won't upload. Its on the upper left hand side looking from the drivers seat. Here is a link to the pic, https://www.infinitipartsdeal.com/re...18b4cffd3f.png
