Fuel system cleaner yes or no?
#16
I cannot repeat this as much as I would like.
Think of fuel system cleaners that go in the tank as cleaning your dirty wheels with cleaners that react with dirt and using only chemicals for this cleaning process.
Nothing will beat a manual cleaning and balancing.
Granted it doesnt hurt but many times folks put all of their money on these and never get anywhere.
The Infiniti/Nissan Fuel system is unlike many cars in the past. Almost everything is plastic and very well made.
Folks need to understand that the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly and many times it does a fantastic job at preventing debris to enter.
What it can't do is separate chemicals, like many filters. These chemicals can loosen some of the debris in this filter and send it into the fuel line. This debris is supposed to be caught by the 6 filters each injector have.
If debris has made it into the injector, nothing you'll do will EVER get it out. You might knock it around the injector filter basket which will cause better flow as it dances inside of the filter basket however whenever it sets it might stick to the filter again lowering the flow.
If it indeed folks have carbon/gunk debris in the injectors understand that bank one will see most of this cleaner and bank two will follow later meaning Bank one will get cleaner before bank two.
In all honesty, folks best bet is a local trip to the JY to pull some VHR injectors and send them to get cleaned and flowed and install them once they are. This way you are set and done with the worry about your injectors being dirty. You can count on this to last you a few years. Now that you have a second set you can always send your originals out the get cleaned and tested this way you'll never have to waste money on fuel cleaners/additives.
