I bought a 2010 g37x a little over a month ago, and since i made the purchase the revving down while in neutral or parked is pretty slow. It takes about 3 seconds to rev down from 6k rpm back to idle. The car is completely stock. Other videos of g’s i’ve watched seem to rev down a lot faster. Any suggestions on how to fix this or is it normal?

What difference does it make how long it takes to return to idle RPM when you're revving to 6000 RPM when the transmission is in park or neutral?

I guess I'm curious why you're revving to 6000 RPM in park or neutral. What's the point, and what does it matter how long it takes to drop to idle RPM?

I'm not judging, I'm genuinely curious.

Just revving my car to hear it or whatever. It doesn't really matter i’m just curious if it’s normal or an issue with the throttle body or something that might need work.

Good way to risk spinning a bearing, pop a a rod, or screwing up the valve train.

Free revving the engine creates a significant amount of lateral and inertial force upon the rotating assemblies within the engine. That built up energy has to go somewhere and, without a load, it takes a few moments for that energy and force to dissipate.

I am sure your engine is fine. While it is okay to "blip" the throttle, I wouldn't make it a habit of free revving the engine "just to hear it." Even though these VHR engines are pretty damn tough they are not invincible. In gear? Floor it all day and let that VQ sing!
