2015 Q50 Engine swap
Good evening,
I’ve recently acquired a 2009 G37X 7AT the body and interior is pristine; however, the engine looks to be damaged beyond repair. I’ve done research within the forums and what I came up with that any VQ37VHR would be a direct swap to my G37X. I’ve found a 2015 Q50 engine for $700. Any recommendations while I have the engine out to do on the new motor. I’m new to the Nissan platform, thank you.

The motor has 38k, I will run performance parts down the road but currently just worried about getting it up and running. Any maintenance item I should do while having the engine out, I’ve never done a swap on a Nissan before. Thank you

Copy, just wondering due to the 08-11 Vq3VHR having issues with the galley gasket. I was wondering if the 2015 q50 VQ37VHR has issues like the previous VQ37VHR. Doesnt matter if the vehicle is manual or an automatic , correct?

No transmission doesn't matter .they did change the material for the galley gaskets which is less likely to go out .I guess the serpentine belt would be a good thing to change due to it being 5 years old and might be weathered but still easy to do when in the car.I wouldn't worry about replacing parts until they go out though.

Got off the phone with LKQ and they stated that the 2015 q50 engine from a wagon don’t fit my 2009 G37X 7AT, she told me if I bought it they won’t warranty the engine due to their system not recognizing the platform between g37x and q50. Just want to double check that it will fit ... before I pull the trigger, thanks a lot the help.

As long as it is the 3.7 it will fit .You are only replacing the engine and running it it the old ECU and PCM correct? This does raise a red flag as they say they will not warranty the engine. You should be able to put a engine in any car yo want and not worry about if it's good. I personally would not get it if you cant return something they sold you is faulty.

Engine coming this Monday ... any recommendations on maintenance in regards to the transmission beside trans flush. Once I unbolt the engine from the transmission was wondering if I can do any preventative maintenance while everything is off the car. Thank you

One thing to take a look at is the oil pan - I think I heard that the AWD versions have a different oil pan to accommodate the front driveshafts. So you might have to switch oil pans. That would be worth doing before dropping it in. Also, can you share where you're finding these motors with such low mileage for so cheap? You can PM me if you don't want to disclose publicly.
Edit: So I looked up LKQ, and I don't see the prices you got. The listed prices on their website are about double what you're talking about. Can you PM me how you got the to cut the price in half? I'll be in the market very soon, so this thread is very relevant to me right now. Thanks!

Looks like the traditional junk yards of yesteryear have found a lucrative presence online.

WOW that's crazy how cheap they are! I did a quick search a few months ago, and they were usually in the $1,500 range for the ones with under 70K on them. It seems like there are a LOT more to choose from with less than 50K on them and yeah, way less. Keep us posted for how it turns out!
