Multiple Sensors replaced, CEL's return - Is it electrical/grounds?
2011 G37xS AWD 115k
For a while now i have a few CEL's that keep coming up. They dont particularly impact me in any serious way other than one is annoying and both prevent me from passing inspection in NY.
First one is the Engine Oil Temp Sensor(not Pressure sensor). This was a pain to replace. Couldnt get to it without removing the engine oil filter housing. This was replaced and the CEL comes right back. Other than the CEL i dont notice any impact.
Second one is the fuel level sensor. My fuel gauge does NOT work. I fill up and i show full but i never go lower than 3/4 full tank on the gauge. I couldn't tell which one it was based on the cel so i replaced both under the passenger and drive side under the rear seats.
CEL comes right back.
A few things that may or may not be of use in helping diagnose..
It is a Hurricane Sandy flood car. I have 115k mile on the car and got it with 90k. Otherwise car has been fine.
I do NOT have a the plastic covering the radiator under the car.
I mention this because of potential rust or corrosion. I'm not sure if these 2 sensors have anything in common (connector, grounds etc) and might be impact by corrosion or water fron lack of radiator cover.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my 2 cents:
P0472: must be a typo, that code doesn't exist for a 2011 G37
P0106: Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) circuit range/performance. There is a TSB for this and requires the ECU to be updated.
P0198: Engine oil temp sensor voltage too high:
Assuming the wiring is ok, I suspect the ECU has a short internally. It is not sealed/water tight since it is located inside the car.
I think you might have a difficult time troubleshooting this and since it is a flood car, you are probably going to experience more unusual problems.
Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

P0462: An excessively low voltage from the sensor is sent to ECM.
You might want to get the factory shop manual (easily found online) and follow the steps to troubleshoot each code.
These are not common issues and unfortunately there are no easy answers here like "change part xyz"

For the fuel level sensors, if it were my I would probe them to see if they have continuity through to the ecu. Maybe there’s a wire that’s been flooded or a ground is corroded to the point of failure.
I would pull all grounds and hit them with a wire brush or something abrasive to give them the best contact possible to the body. I have never worked on a flood car but I have had moments where a bad ground has thrown me for a loop

How did using the heat gun work out for breaking loose the big killer nut on the crank pulley? I've read a lot of horror stories about getting that nut to break loose. Great job man. Pretty car, love the color.
