Car pops out of gear after hard stop 7AT
#17
Mine feels like it gets out of gear when I slam the brake to a complete stop and when I press the gas the transmission takes a bit to realize I’m pressing the gas then just engages first gear and jerks it a bit

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm experiencing. The other thing I notice is the rear diff makes a clunk with the lash of the transmission kicking in. When was the last time you did a transmission fluid change? Wondering if maybe there's a correlation. How would I be able to check the condition of the fluid? I'm aware there is no dipstick...

I changed my transmission fluid at 100K miles and have 112K miles right now. Oh yeah mine does that too Im try to change the rear diffs frame bushing to a solid one in the summer, since mine has already leaked out, and hopefully it fix's that issue. There is really no way of checking the condition of the transmission fluid, someone on here has made a tread where they put a transmission dipstick into to 7AT.

Any updates OP for what a fix might be? My 2010 g37x sedan has been experiencing a similar problem and I'm not sure what to really expect when I take it in for service
EDIT: for anyone wondering I changed my trans and both diff fluids and the problem went away. was at ~84k miles and i no longer experience the lock up

I sold the car about 8 months ago and got another G, haven’t tried this in the new one. (2010 X coupe) I do have some VERY strange behaviour in third though, when I initially downshift for a pass or something it’ll freerev, go about 2k above target, slam into gear and chirp the tires. Not a single clue what’s going on with that, maybe it’s related to my old issue somehow. I plan to ditch the 7AT if I can figure out how

I know I'm late to the party but I'm having essentially the same issue with my 2010 -X sedan with 120k. Who knows if the prior owner changed the transmission fluid, but that's what I'm gonna try myself before taking it to a shop or dealer. Sounds like at least one person in this thread said that fixed their issue?
Glad to know I'm not entirely alone in this lol here's my thread btw: Transmission Lurch?!
We'll see how it feels after the fluid change. I swear to god if I have to buy or rebuild a new transmission.... ugh .... might as well swap out to manual transmission at that point. It sucks there are no upgrades or aftermarket for us 7AT guys huh? Like I see Z1 sells a Transgo (brand, I think) shift kit or valve body upgrade kit for the 5AT. And of course, there's plenty of fun stuff out there for the manual guys like lightweight flywheels/clutches, etc.

Fix?
Hi all,
Anyone found out what causes this issue and how to fix it? I am having this issue now and nowhere I go can seem to help. It started when i got my engine swapped after it blew at a local shop.
thank You

I have this issue, seems like an issue with the transmission or torque converter. The transmission slips, but instead of when we're using throttle it slips when braking (even lightly for me, seems completely random but more frequently when I release the brake from a stop). I just did my transmission fluid service without the gasket and filter but I'll most likely add some more fluid and give it another go. Every time I add some the issue seems to go away (sealed trans btw, have to ramp the car and use an adapter and pump through the drain plug). I can't tell how much fluid is in the car but the overflow hasn't let any out except what seems to come out of the torque converter when the vehicle is shut off.
