P0011 + P0300 Confirmed. P0524 Pending
In cases where the P0524 shows up for Gallery Gasket repair, is the code pending or confirmed? I have the codes above but P0524 is pending.
I have one dealership who tested my oil psi as low and another where it was above or nearly at spec (20psi idle/40psi @ 2k rpm).
The one with the low psi conclusion believes it's the gallery gasket while the other believes I have a locked up bank 1 sprocket and failed VVT solenoid. I'm not sure how a "Locked Sprocket" can happen exactly. I've never heard of this so I wonder if it's just a bad solenoid causing the symptoms. It runs rough for sure.
The fact that my low oil pressure light hasn't come on and that the second dealer measured it at spec makes me think I have a chance at this not being the gallery gasket. Anyone else have an opinion?
Maybe I should have them just do the VVT sensor and see if that gets rid of issues?
Thanks in advance!

Just to close this out because I hate when threads don't have solutions...
I changed my the vvt solenoid for Bank 1. After clearing the codes and nearly 800 miles later, no codes have come back. Car seems to run fine without any misfires. My idle is steady most of the time but has moments where it bumps up to 800rpm but that might be a separate issue....I think I have vacuum leaks I've been trying to chase down.
My advice is always start with just the vvt solenoid. It's cheap and easy.

No problem!
What I forgot to mention was the second dealership never actually offered to do the just the VVT solenoid. They wanted to tear through everything and replace the can sprocket unnecessarily. They never offered to do just the solenoid and see what happens, which is clearly the easier fix. That was my call.
In the end, I was in a situation where I had no free time at work and panicked when I saw the p0524 so I headed to the dealers and ended up spending $1k between two diagnostics and the repair. If I stuck to my usual routine, I would've only paid $100 and done it myself....but I guess I was lucky that I at least didn't do what the dealers suggested and blown $5k.
