1 quart low after 2100 miles
Hello, I have a 2013 G37X, automatic with 36,000 miles on it. I don't put a lot of miles on my vehicle and thought I would check the oil yesterday and it was down a quart, been about 4 months since the last oil change. I don't see any oil on the ground so not sure what's going on, any ideas? Thanks.

If you dont see oil anywhere outside of engine, means it was burned inside of the engine.
Means potential problems with pistons, cylinders, piston rings.
Piston rings can be coked because of sludge, cylinders walls cab be damaged by dust or metals, pistons can be damaged, etc etc
How often do you change oil and what type of oil do you use?

Thanks for the info......wow....well that sucks....I been using the same Firestone by me for years, every 5,000 miles it what they tell me with the type of oil used but I have always gone in at 3,000 miles instead. I don't know the brand off hand but it's synthetic 5W-30.

Here
You can go to another reputable place or even dealership and do the oil change and ask them to drain some of the oil into an empty, clean container (like empty 1 quart oil bottle) and sent to a lab for oil analysis.
You also can bring your own oil for the change, I would say oil with high detergent agents, run for 3k and repeat

Another thing oil change shops do oil change warm so perhaps they got an incorrect reading while filling. I seriously doubt your car burned that much. The vq37 is solid and not widely known for oil consumption issues.

Thanks....I will try a different shop all together, possibly the dealer on this next one and go from there.

But it is not warm oil. They might did not put correct amount of new oil.
Did the topic starter check the level after the oil service?

It is possibility, but still shop's mistake. They buy oil in barrels and use smaller measurement containers to fill up engine with new oil.

It's not good to drive any car with low oil level which is below 'L' line.
Just buy 1 quart of good full synthetic oil, like Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Valvoline 5w30 and add it, but don't overfill. The measure stick should show oil line between L and H.
Monitor for another 1k miles, see if your oil actually gets burned.

I always wonder does "L to H" on the dipstick equals to 1 quart of oil? My car has always consumed oil on a consistent basis, but it's always within the "OK" range in the chart below.

It was pretty common for the VQ35DE to burn a half-quart of oil between oil changes. At least, common online. I can't imagine the general public carrying an extra quart of oil around in the trunk just because they owned a 6-cyl Nissan.
The VQ37HR in my G has never burned oil, insofar as I know.
