Blown Engine

Blown Engine
Hey guys hope all is well.. I replaced my transmission 2 years ago on my 2011 g37x sedan. Now sadly she's blown the engine. I love this car more than my kids and other than these two things she's been a dream. I went yesterday home from work she jerked like I was hit from behind. Drove another 35 KM and parked it with no issues. Started it and she sounded rough. Drove 3km and she died, pulled her to the side and tried to turn her over and nothing. 3hrs later for a tow. I dropped her to my trusted shop and they pulled the belt and starter. Told me their suspicions and I gave the go ahead ot drop the pan.. Lots of small pieces of metal. Not sure what blew but you can't turn the crank and I dont want to spend money to try and see what it was exactly. Leading up to this I had some of the common issues described by others and Nissan and my trusted garage all said it didn't sound that out of the normal compared to others they've heard. I've never tracked it even once. I drove it spirited but babied her, changed the oil every 5k or 3 months never anything but 94 octane or Synthetic OIL. I've been using INDY 500 Firehawk tires on a set of 18" Enkei's from the g37x coupe for the past 4 summers and Blizzak LS80 on the stock 17" Duck Foot RIMS for Winters. No Mods and I bought her used with 90k 4 years ago. I got a tonne of life from her I suppose at 270k now. Has anyone heard of someone blowing a transmission or Engine in these and costs associated? I have option for 70k Mile engine for $850 From Rochester and approx 18 hr quote from my garage alone for the swap not including any dealer specific programming that may be required I found lots of them online from LKQ for $850 USD +/- with 60-100K Miles

I had a similar experience with my previous g35 sedan. Engine blew due to oil consumption (even after my regular oil. Checks). I loved that car and decided to buy and engine and install it myself in my driveway. Wasn't that difficult (there's a thread over at g35driver.com if your interested). If you love it and are mechanically inclined I say swap it yourself for less than 800 bucks. Seems like you got almost 200k out of the engine so I say you did pretty good

Thanks buddy. I am pretty good mechanically and electronically haven't done an engine in about 20 years but as long as the old is all tagged I can't imagine it to be that insurmountable. And make it so that I can afford the replacement for less than the cost of a **** box. I guess I'm spoiled because my 1st Nissan (02 3.5 Altima) is presently at 380k lol.b I may give that a whirl considering I have a week vacation to burn and we actually have the weather to do it right now
