Water pump thermostat and related gaskets/O rings. Oil gallery gaskets. Oil change coolant replacement.

Labor was $812. Parts were $417. Plus tax

Total out the door $1345.76

They still didnt save the old gaskets but assured me they were not blown torn or coming apart at the edges or anywhere else. They also said water pump was fine but the O ring failed allowing coolant to escape during warm up. After the O ring expanded with heat it sealed fine.

I just experienced the exact same leak location on my 2008 G37 Sport Coupe with 180k miles. Once pressure builds up when warming up it leaks until warmed up. Temperature stays fine while driving just need to add coolant to overflow tank.

Have had bad experiences with Infiniti service in the past. Already had the oil gaskets replaced.

Also get random misfire code that Infiniti Techs could not figure out after having car for 17 weeks and replacing lots of parts with guesswork. That was at 154k miles and their final solution was to replace engine and wouldn’t pass emissions. Code occurs few times a year when damp out. These were covered on different thread.

So this tells me I have another $2K repair if I want to keep the car.

Thanks for identifying what the issue is. I thought it was coming around bolt as in your pictures but my video actually shows it runs down and pools on the bolt and other to locations. Was not sure if peep hole was above that location.

Rest of Car in good shape and still love driving car so hate to give it up but can’t keep throwing money away on it.

Did you have them change your tension pulley and belt since they were in that area already and belt has to come off anyways

I had the same issue which turned out to be the water pump as well, half way through the job I found the gallery gasket had failed, then find the oil leak on top of my thermostat was coming from the back timing cover so EVERYTHING had to come out. The reason why they did not replace yours was because the tech was not going to get paid for these gaskets which require the removal of the Bank 1 gears and re-time the cams. I would have skipped it if SERVICE would have messed up also. Some one has to pay for this mistake and 99% of the time is the tech. I would have made sure to say I want the originals this way the tech would have gotten paid for his work.
Here's a view of what would have looked like.

I made them redo the job and replace the gaskets the second time around. Car was down for a week and a couple days. Car was totalled shortly after. Maybe a month or so. Not by me.

water pump is in rear of engine or front? I have a coolant leak seems to be coming from lower passenger side. Is there a hose down there?

I'm glad I found this thread. I'm having the same issue right now and of course the warranty ended in July. Sounds like this is not a job a DIY'r can tackle so it looks like I may be out a few bucks soon. Not how I wanted to spend my hard earned money.
