Planning to get a Turbo, what engine modifications should I make first?
Hey, Im looking to add a AAM Turbo kit onto the g37 sedan I own, and I wanted to start planning for it.
I have a few questions, but before that keep in mind that I am looking to put around 450whp to start and increase it over time.
1. What are the necessary engine modifications I should do before I get a turbo and are there any brands that are recommended for these parts?
2. How much money am I realistically looking to put down for engine modifications, turbos and installation?
3. How long does it generally take to install a turbo?
4. When it comes to the intakes, I recently got the Takeda short ram intakes and I wanted to know if the turbo kit will replace them with their own intakes ( just want to double check).
5. How much boost would be good for daily driving/

Still helpful though. You have a lot of vague/rookie questions that can easily be found there and by searching on the forums. If you have to ask about whether your air intakes will be replaced when you twin turbo it, then you need to do some more research on how it actually works. A compression and leakdown test would be smart to do first. Boost will depend on turbo size, power goal, traction limits, etc. If you want it done right, you're looking at $20k+, minimum. Have a look:

A Top Gunz A2A Supercharger kit is like $5,999 and I'm sure it's probably around $10k for all necessary supporting parts and that kit is good for 425-550whp depending on pulley and fuel.

Yeah then you are constantly filling up that bottle. Anyone can throw a bottle on a car. You still have to consider supporting mods even when doing nitrous too. He asked, I gave him the numbers to do it right (approximately).
The TT is more than the supercharger yes but it has much more potential to make a lot more power. Labor is higher on the TT install because the motor is pulled.
Another route to go is SOHO's top mount single kit. Cheaper than the F.I. TT kit and labor would be much less too.

For $20k, I would just do an LS swap. Probably would come in less than $12k.
538hp LSA might fit under the hood. If not, you can get a 495hp LS3-480.
