Is this normal rpm behavior? (7at)

Have an 09 g37x. Was looking at the rpms today and I noticed that as I am cruising then stomp on the gas, I notice somtimes the rpms drop a little (maybe like 100) before shooting up normally. Is this normal? Could it he downshifting and I am just crazy? Thank you.

My 2011 G37x does the same thing - can be annoying, almost like a stutter. I'll do the grounding kit in a few months to see if there's actually a difference, however the car seems to do this when I've been driving gently. On a day where my driving is more "spirited", doesn't seem to be as much of an issue. 7AT in these years have some logic and programming opportunities for normal driving.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah this transmission is annoying if you have a habit of overthinking things lol. I honestly do not mind this, I just want to make sure somthing is not going wrong like my torque converter. I will be at the dealer tomorrow and will ask them.

The 7AT is programmed to hold the highest reasonable gear for as long as it can for fuel economy. You might see a slight rpm drop as torque falls off briefly when you whack the throttle open. It's why I installed a catback and began shifting manually.

Get an ecutek tune. Sébastien at specialty z is etuning my 7at and engine. The tune isn't complete yet but the way he changes the programming on the 7at makes it shift much better* much faster* Well worth it
