This isn't necessary if you're running an E85 fuel system. These blocks can handle 650whp stock reliably. I know I'm digging up an old thread, but it still pops up on google/bing high up when looking for info on power capability and boosting this motor. Methanol isn't necessary, internals aren't necessary. You just have to find a good tuner in your area to work that Ecutek magic and you get a reliable build without spending the multiple thousands these guys suggest. Just know that if you run E85 that maintainence costs go up significantly. You need to change your fuel filter every 7500 miles or so, and your oil should be changed at 2500 to 3000 with ester oil. Happy boosting.

There's way too many variables to say these blocks can run 650whp reliably. The block is still aluminum and the rods are cast; anything over 450whp is a going to be a gamble. There may be examples of some guys running that kind of power but that is by no means the norm.

Its been over 2 years since I boosted my G sedan on a stock block and its sitting at 600+ WHP and 556lbs of torque. Have not had any issues since specialty z did an amazing job on everything but definitely helps to run E85. The maintenance has definitely gone up for sure. The only thing I dislike about the car is smogging it lol. Thanks too everyone for all the much needed guidance.

Definitely helps with keeping those cylinders cool. How you drive dictates a lot; one low RPM, high load pull and that could be a wrap. Are you running that power through a 7AT or 6MT?

I agree that how you drive is definitely a key factor, all in all I drive pretty aggressively just not everyday. My transmission is fully built from fast intentions and is 7AT. Experience may vary from person to person so I can't really say its safer, all I can give this thread is my experiences and let people decide if going boostd is for them.
