PO710 covered under powertrain warranty

Patient is a 2013 G37x with 58,000 miles. SES light came on the other day so I pulled the codes and this is what I found:

code PO710 Fluid Temperature Sensor A

A little digging indicates that this is fixed by a trans controller flash and is covered by a TSB.

My question is this: Since my bumper to bumper warranty is expired(march of this year was 48 months), will Infiniti perform this TSB under the powertrain warranty? Has anyone here tried?

I called the closest dealer and they didn't know and said they'd look into it and call me back. I'm assuming that this is a bad sign....

Thanks

Powertrain warranty should apply here, but if not assuming you bought this from an Infiniti dealer, they may do the TSB under goodwill, certainly wouldn't hurt to ask.

flip open your owners warranty manual it will clearly state all components covered under the federal extended emissions warranty. my take on the matter without looking into the warranty coverage manual is software flashes are not covered because it is not an actual component that failed under federal emissions guidelines. but blnewt makes a good point about one time goodwill. speaking from experience working at dealers, customers that frequent the shop will get taken care of. if you don't ask you may not get goodwilled and would need to cough up the cash.

I was referring to the powertrain warranty, not the emissions warranty. Here's what the warranty says is covered for transmission. Note it specifically mentions electronic transmission controls:

"TRANSMISSION AND TRANSAXLE - Case and all internal parts, torque converter and converter housing, automatic transmission control module, transfer case and all internal parts, seals and gaskets, clutch cover and housing, A/T cooler, and electronic transmission controls."

However, this does not necessarily mean that the dealer will honor it, hence why I was posing the question here.

the scope of the powertrain warranty is very limited. hence my suggestion to crack open the federal emissions warranty guidelines and see if its covered under the emissions warranty because it is broader and covers more criteria on top of the powertrain which is also listed in the federal emission warranty section. i haven't cracked mine open so i can not give you a definitive answer as to what is included, i speculate its not covered but i may be wrong. in any case i also suggested along with blnewt to ask for a one time goodwill.
