Car won't accelerate past 3500 RPM, violent jerking

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1l...w?usp=drivesdk

See the video in the link. I had just driven for 30 minutes or so, then stopped and idled in park for about 10 minutes to exchange some equipment out of my trunk and chat with one of my reps. Upon leaving, the car exhibited this behavior. No CEL, feels like hitting the rev limiter. I carefully drove to where i could safely park, turned off the car off and did an ECU reset procedure, which seems to have fixed it (for now)

Any idea what's going on or what might have caused this?

Wow, that does not sound good at all. Glad it has been fixed.

Not sure if it has been fixed. It seems like the car went into limp mode, but it didn't show a check engine light, so I'm lost as to why it happened.

The only way to figure it out is going to be to plug in an OBDII reader. There should be codes there even if there is no CEL. Since you already reset the ecu it might be gone, but take it to advance/autozone and they read codes for free.

I have the torque app, but didn't have my bluetooth OBD2 dongle, so anything in there was lost when i reset the ECU. No choice really, needed to get on the road and wasn't going to try merging onto the expressway with that going on. I now have it in my glovebox in case there is a repeat.

What are some common reasons the car would go into limp mode?

Oh well if you have the torque app you might as well try the read codes function, it might still be there (i doubt it though). I always leave my OBD adapter in the car, just incase. You can also reset the codes right from the app.

There are so many things which could cause limp mode, so its really hard to just make a guess.

He has a 2013 so I don't think that's possible. Hmm, I guess that's a 2012 build date possibly so tough to say.

Pop your hood and check for the sensors/plugs on your throttle body to make sure they are not loose and plugged in all the way.

You have to take the engine cover off and you will see those sensors/plugs on top of your throttle bodies.

Not sure if that's the issue but worth checking

Sounds like a mass air flow sensor..

I know that "felt like I was hitting the Rev limiter" all too well

My impression was that those gaskets were redesigned in 2012 so no 2013 models had the old gaskets

Anyone know a PID so you can read oil pressure on the torque app? I assume oil pressure low enough to put the car in limp mode would at least cause a warning light.

Car has another 10k on the powertrain warranty
