Previous owner used nitrous
Well I'll try to keep it short. Some of you may have seen the buttons I posted in another thread about me complaining of how hideous these "AMP/Stereo" buttons are from the previous owner. The salesman said it was from the aftermarket stereo, I didn't think much of it until I used my common sense and thought, what the heck would 2 separate switches have to do with the stereo? I'd agree if there was a bass control **** or something but 2 separate switches doesn't add up.. I traced the toggle switch for a power, ground and signal to the trunk but its not connected to anything and just taped off. Then the other toggle switch goes to the firewall and I couldn't find the other end of the wires under the hood without getting to involved, so I assume a purge valve?
If these are what I think they are then its kind of bitter sweet. I planned on spraying this motor anyway at some point so that'll save me maybe an hour of running wires. On the downside I have no idea how the previous owner treated this car, whether it was wet or dry, sprayed daily, traded it to the dealer knowing it was a time bomb etc etc... I looked him up on Facebook to ask him about it but I couldn't find him, and its a very specific name so its more likely he doesn't have a Facebook at all.
So, any other nitrous users have any tips or clues to look for? I'm not positive but it seems to make more sense to me. I have a Gold warranty through Infiniti for another 19k miles and since I bought it when I bought the car I can only assume that would cover things the previous owner did, right?? I guess I'll just have to run a compression test or something to really see if anything is wrong. I'm just spit balling here, thinking what steps to take from here on.

Well for one you could do a compression/leakdown test. Maybe have the oil tested at blackstone the next time you change it to see what sort of metal particles are floating around in there.
Pull a plug or two. Maybe they weren't replaced and you can at the very least take a look at their condition. If you have a shop that has a scope, they can take a look at the top of the pistons and see if there's any pitting too.
Edit: You could also throw it on the dyno. You wouldn't have a baseline but if it's way off of what's generally expected, you could assume there's some internal wear. Also, nitrous tends to be really hard on ring lands so look for smoke out the tailpipe, burning oil, etc..

not unless the work required to cover an issue reveals the nitrous use and void it..
