Check engine light oil pressure code
guys, I have no where else to turn and my frustration has reached it's limit. Last fall I bought the car of my dreams, a 2009 G37X coupe and owning it has been a nightmare. every 3 weeks or so my check engine light comes on and the car refuses to go over 2500 rpm. I took it to Nissan and they show an "oil pressure" code. I have had it in 7 times and they have said the filter on the car was too small, the line to the oil pump was leaking, I waited to long for my oil change (3,800 kms) and then 2 "I have no idea" trips. I then got the same answers from 2 different Infinity dealers. I am now actually afraid of driving the car.
the light comes on at the same stage every time. when I accelerate from a standing stop (not hard at all) and for some reason have to take the foot off of the accelerator pedal for even just a second and the re- apply the light come on and the car starts protecting itself. this is driving me crazy. I just want to know why this is happening and then get it fixed, but on one has any idea why this is happening. when they clear the code all is well for a few more weeks. guys, I need help as I have no where else to turn.

Sounds like you may possibly have the dreaded rear timing cover gasket failure. I sure hope that's not what it is, but that's what it sounds like. Have your actual oil pressure checked. If it's very low (< 7 PSI or so) that's probably the problem. About a $3000 repair at the dealership.

you have no idea how hard I prayed that this answer would not come to fruition. I kinda had an idea that this might be the problem, but was hoping it was not the case. I guess I had better start saving my loonies.

well, finally put some money aside and have taken the car in a Nissan dealership. i started out at the local Infinity dealer and they simply had no interest in dealing with my issue and once i saw their labor prices it was actually a good thing. lets hope that by mid next week i will have a car that i am not afraid to drive.

the Infinity dealer did not give me a quote as they said that they were not interested in doing the job, so i went to Nissan and they quoted me a ball park of $2000 - $3000. The have had the car for the week and are now waiting on the part that they have ordered. the mechanic did call to say that i appeared to be right and the gasket had to be replaced. i am just hoping that this is really the cause of my problems. i would hate to spend 3 grand only to have it move back into "limp" mode a few weeks from now.

i got the car back on Saturday, $3100.00 later. the gasket did in fact have a 2 inch piece missing. they also replaced the chain and sliders along with 2 solinoids. they said it was not pretty in there. it is like driving a different car. much tighter and gears are much smoother. if the code does not return it was worth every single penny.
