Squealing noise, driveline related?

I have a 2010 G37x coupe that I'm hoping to get some help on. The other day I was driving home and I was getting this on and off squealing noise from the engine or driveline area. It sounds very similar to a squealing belt noise that we all have heard before. But I don't think it is a belt because the noise coming and going did not change based on RPM. I tried manually shifting gears at speed and that did not change the noise. The noise was totally speed dependent. It was more common to happen in the 45 to 55mph range. Seem to get less noticeable at higher speeds.

The car seem to drive fine except for this noise. About 15 miles from my house, the VDC, ABS and slipping traction light all came on. But again the car drove fine except for this crazy noise. At some lower speeds you could even hear a popping type noise. After I got home, I did start the car an hour later and the idiot lights went off, but I could still get it to make the noise.

I also played around with using the brakes during the drive home, and hitting the brakes didn't seem to affect whether it made the noise or not. So what could make this kind of noise that isn't brake related, or RPM related? Only speed related. To me I'd think it would be transmission or transfer case type issue? But I'm just guessing. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Curt

It would be helpful if you can shoot a short video or record some audio so we can hear the noise.

Start by reading any stored codes. The lights you indicated above usually come on if there's some issue with the speed sensor (or a significant speed differential is present between the wheels).

Maybe a hub issue?
