Stumble upon acceleration
#16
I changed my plugs and cleaned my throttle bodies last night and the problem is gone. Just as I suspected. It was really easy to do as well. There's a DIY on changing the plugs. If you are approaching 100,000 miles and experience the "stuttering" under acceleration from low rpm's, replace your plugs.

If it's completely random, I'd point to a sensor on it's way out. Mechanical issues are bad and get worse, with consistency. You're not showing any codes or going into limp mode or anything, right?
The sensors I would think of are the O2 sensors, knock sensors, and MAF sensors. Those sensors all give direct readings to the ECU to tell it to change it's fuel or timing, which would cause a stutter. The other thing that causes a stutter is the trac control, but you would see the light flash on the dash. But if it was that, it would be a wheel speed sensor.

Hey Guys,
I recently had a check engine light come on and the car ran like ****. The idle was high (1100-1200) and would surge. Coming to a stop was interesting. It was like I applied the gas and brake at the same time. Took it to the dealer to sort out since it's still under warranty. They called and said I had a crack in my intake manifold and it needed to be replaced for $909!!!! I said nope. This should be a warranty item. The service tech said let me work on it for you. He called back about an hour later and said the dealership will take care of it. I said I would not pay for the repair and if it wasn't covered under warranty I would have to wait. He said not to worry about it he would take care of it. The car was ready the next day and I was only charged about $70. I have a $50 co-pay on my warranty and I guess tax and shop expenses. I kinda think the diagnosis was bullsh!t. The intake does not look new. The car does run much better now. Bottom line is if you car is running rough or hesitating look for a vacuum leak. That is what they said my issue was.
