G37s takes a while to start
I have a 2008 g37s coupe with 101K miles on it.
When I press the push to start button it hesitates 3 times then starts on the 4th
Like: Ehhh* Ehhh *Ehhh* Vrooooom*
Im thinking its the starter or maybe it needs new spark plugs.
I just want the car to start faster when the button is pressed and not hesistate for 1.5 sec before it starts up.
does anyone know the issue or how to get it to start quicker?

I have an 08 also and have started to notice the same. I was thinking maybe the battery is getting old. Hell i think the factory battery is still in it haha. Ive only own it for 3 years. I also notice if i let it sit for 3 days, it seems to hesitate even more, reason im thinking the battery.

That's weird. After mines been sitting for a while it fires right up or if the engine is cold. But if it's parked and the engine is still warm seems to do the hesitation. Again I'll try and get some videos up this weekend

Is this all in one push of the button? Or do you mean you have to go through the sequence of pushing the push start button 3-4 times? If it's the latter, I just had the same issue. My clutch safety switch went bad and was replaced under warranty (2012 with 30k). It now starts first time no problem.

ok so this is not the same issue as I have described. You really shouldn't have to hold the button down. it's designed to just step on the brake/clutch and a regular push of the button and release for it to start.
However, my guess is that this issue has something to do with your intelligent key issue. My guess is that there's a code stored somewhere that does not pop a CEL (much like how I had a code stored for my faulty clutch safety switch) and you may need the dealership to clear it if possible. If they can not simply clear it, or clearing it does not resolve the issue, I would suggest a reprogram of the remote to the vehicle to try to fix the problem. with any luck, both issues will be resolved.

load test the battery. sounds like the battery may be weak. a voltmeter will tell you surface charge of the battery but it won't tell you the condition of the battery when its placed under a load.

A battery hydrometer will tell you the condition of each cell.
Test the Specific Gravity of each cell to determine if each cell is holding a full charge.
If you have a weak cell that does not come up to a full charge, replace the battery.

Our cars are designed that you don't need to hold the button in to engage the starter for a desired length of time. They are designed to just push and release ... the car does the rest until its started. At least that is supposed to be how it works.

Correct! A voltmeter will not tell you the condition of the battery. It will read 12.6 v and if your alternator is functioning it should read 14.4v

some batteries are completely sealed so you can't test the battery acid with a hydrometer. hydrometer testing is sooooo if i had to guess pre 1980s. in addition yes hydrometer testing will tell you the condition of charge in each cell but lets not confuse voltage with amperage. you need amperage to make a starter motor turn. a load test will definitely tell you if the battery is holding enough voltage and amperage.
