Broken down and got a catch can(2)

U could remove the ones that connect to the intake. Put a small filter on the engine head and a cap on the intake pipe

You could do that but it's the same effect as having the filtered air coming through the air intakes like the setup shown. Gonna do this to mine soon, what's the thread NPT and hose size? And your are eliminating the pcvs altogether right?

I am still using the pvc and the hose size I wann say is 5/8th's. I used the hoses that came with the cans.
