Need help with Front Diff F160A, Please
Ok guys,
I'm working on a solution for the X guys being able to swap out our Final drives. It looks like according the the FSM the front diff is a type 160A. Does anyone know if the older Skylines ( R33 or R32's) used theses? Or the Stock Xtera's ? Needs some help please
Diff is F160A ?

Going off the fact that 2007 g35x's have a 160a final drive...
See pg 144
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Seda..._Sedan/dln.pdf
and that all 2007 sedans (and sedans only based off the tech spec's I've found, as I know as coupes had different FD specs not worth swapping) were spec'd with 3.69 FD gear ratio.
http://www.g35club.org/download/2007_sedan_specs.pdf
It seems swapping the rear pumpkin from a 2007 g35x sedan would be the best candidate for a straight forward, PnP differential swap (might as well upgrade to whiteline bushings too). 3.3 > 3.69 is a nice bump for off the line performance and applied torque in lower gears.
If you look back at 2006 and before final drive ratios, there's nothing worth swapping from. I'm not all that familiar with AWD specifics or the in's and outs. I'm basing a lot of this off my own RWD based 3.3 > 3.69 diff swap that was out of a 2007 G35S sedan that had 60k miles on it. I was able to get it off ebay for $200 shipped. After new fluid, Whiteline bushings and install.. best. mod. to date. Hand's down and that's based off 3 car's worth of modding history.
2007 was a unique year for across the board 3.69 use on sedans. Sport models added vlsd, but no gearing change on either 5AT or 6MT's. My understanding is that all awd equipped rear diffs are vlsd variety. I could be wrong on that, nonetheless...I'd still imagine that '07 G35X would be worth searching out due to unforeseen differences (you could prob figure that out from the service manual section linked to above) between a rear diff out of a AWD and RWD model.
For additional reference, G35 guys six years ago were discussing this topic as they were looking into potential donor options and a few details,

Oh damn forgot to post here also, This is a ZERO go, You'd have to pull the motor to swap the front diff , Unless you buy a used front diff and swap the guts , theres no option for us ;/ Sux, the GTR front diff is the same but there are only 3.3 gears for them
