CNC one-piece 7AT Flex Plate

Hello everyone I'm from the370z.com and I'm trying to see if there's any interest in my CNC one-piece 7AT flex plate. Well, a little background information about the reason I made this: I have cracked the OEM flex plate twice, once on track and once when doing average 100+mph on highway for a bit over an hour. I tried to find a better one but nobody makes it except GTM which from what I can tell they only take the OEM one and do some heat treatment to it. I then went to the racing R&D department in my company and had them custom made one for me. Now that I've had quite a few happy owners locally in Taiwan, I'm thinking about offering it back to US if I can get enough interest. Anyways, here're the pictures:

This is the OEM one, which has a lot of weak spots, and Nissan just happened to drill some holes at the absolutely wrong places.

With our design, the overall strength is 2.5 times stronger, at the same time having the same flexibility so it still functions like OEM one but doesn't crack due to instant torque or ballooning effect and only at 2/3 the weight.

12000rpm dynamic balancing. 12000rpm balance made a huge difference that when we first started the car we were all shocked how less vibration the engine becomes. We've already done testing this flex plate for a few track days as well as 295kmh without any issue.

0.18mm space, CNC machining FTW! By looking at it one may thing it's touching, but we used the clearance gauge to make sure there's enough space through out the whole piece, so don't worry.

Again, clearance gauge was used to measure all the spots and we had a minimum 0.18mm clearance.

Almost done installing

Looking through the maintenance hole. Every bolt needs to be tightened to the factory torque spec.

This is right after the teeth was done.

Every piece is labeled with serial number.

Again, this is not my main business, and right now I'm only selling this locally since I had 15 pieces made to cost down. I did this because the factory one cracked twice on me and I had my team made this so I won't face the problem ever again. Let me know what you think and feel free to ask any question here or through PM. I'm not sure if I can post the selling price since I'm not a sponsor, but if there's interest I can talk to the mods about becoming one.

Looks pretty awesome! If I did not have the GTM treated one this would be a must!

Sorry for the noob question, but does this improve performance ? Is this mainly for the fi guys who need more durability from their 7at? Very nice looking piece by the way, keep up the good work!

I broke mine twice, once on street and once on track, and I have a full bolt-on N/A 370z. I did 12,000rpm dynamic balance on this flex plate so it has a lot less vibration, which means less loss from 7AT. In a month or so I'll have a dyno test on my car to see how much it improves, but for now it's just my butt dyno that tells me I have a much more direct power delivery.

Still following this, I have the GTM treated one on and a stock extra in the garage, but am looking at this one and awaiting the dyno results. Could you PM me what pricing would be around? Thanks!

Flex plate cracks are not very common, and usually caused by something else.

When a flex plate cracks, do not just replace it and go on your way, there is another issue.
Possibly an unbalanced torque converter, loose/under-torqued bolts, unbalanced crankshaft etc.

Is this made of aluminum? A steel ring gear is a must for everyday street use.

It is pretty common here locally. At least 15 people I know of cracked them either on track or on high speed highway run. One guy cracked it doing 295kph on his TT G37s with built transmission and that was really scary... This flex plate is made of low carbon steel, which is the highest strength material in the SFI regulation for flex plate, so the gear can be made in the same piece without problem, at the same time has the flexibility and to deal with the ballooning issue.

The flex plate is $1,200 shipped in the US, but I can't sell it until I get some of them in stock and apply for the sponsor account.

How many hours of labor does it cost to get one installed roughly?
