I'd like to start using amsoil but it's too expensive. $60 for 5 quarts and can only be purchased at authorized dealers.
My Mobil 1 EP is $26 for 5 quart jug and can be purchased at walmart.
Is $12/quart about what you are paying? If so that's 2x the price of Mobil 1 lol

I also use Mobil 1 Synthetic with great results at 12 to 14,000 miles per BlackStone Lab analysis. But I also use a premium filter. If you want to get the extended oil change intervals w/ Synthethic Oil, don't use a cheap filter that isn't intended for that type of mileage. Mobil 1 filters also work great. But they are also more expensive at about $12 per filter. But again, you get twice the life of a regular oil change that cost $5 per filter.

To be fair, that AMSOIL graph is at least 7 years old from 2008. And AMSOIL-centric sites have posted it. Seems like something they themselves put together. It is a great oil, yes. But 7 years is a long time ago.

I called a few performance shops in hopes I would get a faster car out of the deal.
The best quote I got was for a hybrid VQ37HR motor build. They were going to use a 37 bottom end and use my heads and intake manifold. I will go this route with the old motor and reuse the heads.
The quote they gave me was $4600 assuming everything was good. That wasn't including a new CSC which i know it needs per the factory service manual, anytime the transmission is disassembled. I knew this was more than I wanted to pay.
I bought the replacement motor from a wrecked 2007 350z on eBay with 47,000 miles. My car has 78,000 on the body so at least I was getting a fresher motor.
After all supplies and tools needed along the way, I ended up saving about $2,000.
Took me a month of weekends but it's back to normal...mostly. I still need to go down and have the AC vacuumed down and charged. I was quoted $85, I just need to find the time to get down there.

I did have to disconnect the 2 AC lines that run from the condenser through the core support however. This involves having to reclaim the refrigerant first before it can be fully disassembled.
