Getting my modified transmission serviced at dealership
Sorry if this is in the wrong place didn't quite know where to put it.
There seems to be alot of back and forth about transmission servicing. But still I am very much considering just erring on the side of caution and getting the tranny serviced at 30k. I would only really do this at a dealership (just my preference with such an important part of the car)
My question is...I have a Stillen Transmission Cooler on the car...along with an engine cooler...
Will the dealership give me any problems about the coolers when servicing my car?
Anyone with experience with this willing to give me an idea would be awesome thanks !

well I dont personally have either, but I have a ton of other mods and mt dealership has never questioned or given me a hard time with anything. Just think its the dealerships preference. Why not call and ask them??

Thanks guys. The dealership I go to isn't exactly the friendliest. I had a couple issues with them..and the next closest dealership is 25-30 miles away..which is pretty inconvenient for me. I'm just a little apprehensive about getting a straight answer from them So I figured I'd ask here first. I'm considering just going to a shop that specializes in infinitis but from what I understand only the dealership has the machine to service the 7at
and yah newt I added them because I read alot about the g37 running hot quite often so figured that'd be the best way to prolong the cars life if I'm going to be driving it hard. So yah I wouldnt see why they wouldn't see it the same way...unless like you said it wasn't done right

Their hourly rates are less.
Your G37 is a 370Z with different sheet metal.
Drivetrain and suspension are identical.
If you're worried, then ask for the GTR certified tech, its not like he's busy all day with GTRs!!

Heres how dealerships will usually view their patrons who mod their cars:
Let's say someone who has NEVER spent money at the dealership shows up one day with a problem. The customer has never came to dealership and paid for anything - no oil changes, no tune-ups, no services etc. The dealership is going to harshly scrutinize you for you mods and try to connect them to your problem. They will likely attempt to deny any warranty work if there is any correlation whatsoever to the modification.
Let's say someone has come to the dealership for every oil change, every tune-up, every service etc. In other words, they have spent money and time at the dealership and have built up a relationship with the service manager/writers. The dealership is much more likely to look the other way in regards to your modifications.
In other words, it's all about how much money you've spent with the dealership.

If you want your vehicle serviced by the dealership go for it. Just explain to them what you want done and tell them what mods you have in the area they will be working on so they aren't surprised.

This isn't entirely true. I'm in the military and transfer alot from place to place. I've never been to this Infiniti dealership near me and I needed a new transmission...my 5th gear had horrid grinding issues. They replaced it under warranty with no questions asked...and I have a pretty large list of mods.

Looking at your list of mods, they seem to have no direct relationship with the tranny.
Year of your car and mile when you brought it in??

I'm not saying you made this up but I just want to establish other facts that would explain how and why they replaced the tranny for you.
Obviously the powertrain warranty is still in play so there shouldn't be any issue at all. Another thing is as I've mentioned the listed mods you've listed are unrelated to how the tranny performs while the cooler does. Also the low mileage would not need you to perform any kind of services to your tranny.
How long ago was this btw?

And intake and exhaust isn't really a big deal these days. This has little to no affect on the transmission - especially a manual. Auto's, they could claim altering the intake could change the air/fuel and throw off the shifting points (highly unlikely though).
Even so, I'm sure you've heard many stories of people fighting with dealerships over warranty claims because of their modded vehicle. It's not uncommon.
But the OP has added an aftermarket tranny cooler and an oil cooler. The dealership could bitch about an aftermarket transmission part.
