Getting my modified transmission serviced at dealership
#16
Oh ya trust me I've heard some horror stories. If I took my G back home to get that warranty work knocked out they would totally deny me. It's all about feeling out a dealership to see if they are cool or not. And def do what another guy said...take it to a nissan dealer if the Infiniti dealer gives you any problems, just gotta find the most mod friendly one.

Luckily for me, both of the service managers/writers occasionally frequent the bar where I work. I get them nice and drunk. Both cool guys.
Nice dealership, yet online there have been some complaints. I haven't had any problems though.

Lol, that made me crack up. Maybe if I'm in the neighborhood you could take my car into that shop for some warranty work

I appreciate all the the insight fellas that's exactly what I was looking for was a variety of experiences to get a feel bffor it! My cars at 25k...I wanted to do the tranny service at 30k intervals so that will be coming up soon! It's good to hear that there ARE mod friendly dealers out there. I'll just do some hunting! Starting probably with newts Nissan Dealer suggestion lol I'm sure I'll save some $$$ that way. I hope to build up a relationship with a cool dealer that will work with me. It's encouraging to hear Byrds experiences and I see his mod list so I can't see why I wouldn't be able to find one. I do get wills point about new customers and them being more resistant. That's just how business is. But I can't imagine all the dealerships will be that way...they would lose more business. It's probably the more established dealerships that are more apt to be a stickler. Simply because they don't care about your business lol
I like the idea of the car meets/ cars and coffee too as I'm trying to work my way into a circle like that Thanks for the tip Byrd!
Again thanks guys!

Heres how dealerships will usually view their patrons who mod their cars:
Let's say someone who has NEVER spent money at the dealership shows up one day with a problem. The customer has never came to dealership and paid for anything - no oil changes, no tune-ups, no services etc. The dealership is going to harshly scrutinize you for you mods and try to connect them to your problem. They will likely attempt to deny any warranty work if there is any correlation whatsoever to the modification.
Let's say someone has come to the dealership for every oil change, every tune-up, every service etc. In other words, they have spent money and time at the dealership and have built up a relationship with the service manager/writers. The dealership is much more likely to look the other way in regards to your modifications.
In other words, it's all about how much money you've spent with the dealership.
