Like the title says I'm just curious as to people's experiences having a CAI on a daily driven car?! I've always been the kind to go with a CAI on my cars but seeing as the filters sit right behind the front grill it has me nervous. It seems like they can be more susceptible to the weather elements there! I know they have splash shields and stuff (depending on the brand I go with) but is that enough?! Living in the midwest we have some rainy *** days! I've been leaving more towards a R2C for this reason ;-/ thanks in advance!

 

I have stillen gen 3 and I don't have the shield installed. been driving with it on for a little over a year and no problems yet. driven daily whether sunny/rainy/snowing.

 

4 years with no splash shield and has never had an issue

 

BUMP! Reviving this thread because i'm finally purchasing my intake this week (LOOONG time coming) Curious to see other opinions. Especially of those that have a CAI and have to park their cars outside?! Oh and thanks to those that have replied already, y'all have me leaning towards that takeda this week

 

i had the R2C switched to the takeda i daily my car and park outside dont regret a thing

drove through storms and winters no problems here

i have the stillen gen 3's with no splash guard and a more open grill. Love it and don't regret it either. I also daily drive it and park it outside, also have driven it in rain. Although, here is southern california, i understand our definition of "rain" is different than a lot of the rest of the states haha.

 

I have the R2C and love it. Can't speak to any gains but looks and sounds good.

 

I've had cold airs " Stillen and Takeda" for over 4 years no issue at all- Northeast so I see all weather snow,rain sleet etc

 

Stillen CAI no shield. Northern California so any rain gets stolen by SoCal before it hits the ground lol. No issues.

 

Just ordered my takeda Stage II. Can't wait :-)

The only problem I actually have is the fact that for every million gallons we sell SoCal, we have to send 1.8 million gallons due to evap since the entire system is open. There needs to be a better way But I digress

 

Had the same dilemma before in choosing the right intake. I went with Takeda because 4wheelonline.com offered me a nice discount. I really like the sound of it though can't tell if there's any significant power gain.

 

From what I understand, the G37 may only sees about an 14 HP net gain from my Stillen Gen 3. Of course, YMMV depending on the specifics of vehicle condition, etc. Whether 14 HP (if fully acquired) is noticeable would be the debatable part.
