Car WONT START! help!
Hi guys, so this morning when i go to start my car its completely cold actually was taking it for a oil change, it made wouldn't start it starts to crank and just makes a grinding noise. When inside the car its shaking when trying to start it, it kind of sounds like the timing chain i dont know. Should i take a video if so let me know should it be of the engine or inside the car, because i dont want to keep trying to start it.
Thanks boys

Hard to tell with those details. How cold was it? Did your gas freeze? Do you have any stabilizer in it?
It needs 3 things to start- Fuel, Air and Spark. Which one isn't it getting?

No!
Instead of a video why not try calling AAA for a jump start?
It was 2 above zero here in NJ yesterday morning and if you don't have a fully charged battery your vehicle will not start.
Did you try measuring the voltage across the battery when trying to start?
You can test individual cells with a battery Hydrometer
If the cells are not accepting a full charge replace the battery

Sorry for not updating the thread i already got the car towed to a shop at the moment i refuse to take it to the dealer for fear of being ripped off, but so far i have replaced the battery problem still persists. It sounds as if the car is being starved of fuel, i did get it to turn on it sounded like it was running off 4 cylinders and managed to get a code not a real code imo it was engine misfire special code. So i'm looking at the fuel pump and maybe the relay any input?

When you are sick do you look for cheap doctors or seek out experts?
Good luck

It's not about seeking cheap doctors its about finding people who actually want to fix the problem without overcharging. I go to people who i know wont jerk me around, and you cant deny dealerships are known for ****ing people around. The dealership wants a $140 diag fee upfront, its not about spending money its about wasting it. The people taking care of my car are well trained and experienced they know what they are doing.

- Charge, check battery with load test for battery health
- Check charging system voltage
- Check for parasitic load
- Check cells with hydrometer if not a maintenance free battery
Just did all these on my M and takes about 5 minutes max (after the charge). Hopefully they will put your old battery back in and not charge you for that. IMHO you need a different mechanic.

Hmmm ... just arbitrarily replaced the battery? Three (or four) basic steps to test battery.

Nope I tested the battery one of the cells was dead measuring at 8v this is before my mechanic even looked at it. I appreciate the input but I did my diligence before spending the money. Found the problem by the way the mouse chewed through fuel injector wiring harness. Got some new wiring and boom she's up and running. Thanks boys.
