in reference to the rear diff bushing, it is perfectly fine to drive with one that leaked. i noticed that mine leaked out slightly 5k miles ago but i do 90% highway driving so as long as you keep it easy, you should have no problems. just make sure its not completely blown out. i keep checking underneath my car every now and then to see if there are any new drips and its been fine. fyi i plan on replacing it this summer myself when i am more free, i was quoted $900 for labor by Infiniti and $60 for the part.

I'm not sure what they are quoting you as Infiniti\Nissan doesn't sell bushings separately from subframe and entire subframe is a lot more than $60. They might be trying to sell you energy suspension bushings but those are junk, don't get them. What I've done on my current car and on my previous G35 is pay $100 for 3 whiteline diff bushings, have any performance shop put them in, labor should be around $500, give or take.

$500? I'll pass for now I guess. I'd rather spend $500 on a tune and deal with rough shifts until it's unbearable.

Anyone try to refill to create a solid bushing like one of the first posts said? If so is it holding up? What exactly did you use? Thanks guys

This is the information the tech provided me. I asked him that if I were to do it myself, how much would the part be, to which he said $60. I know often times, Infiniti will sell you the whole entire part which is not needed but im not sure why I was quoted that. I also did plan on putting in the whiteline bushings, but i have not found may reviews on them with ride quality. I don't want the whole rear end to shake when shifting or cause vibrations especially while in gear (i.e highway cruising). Doing a majority of highway driving, comfort has become a bigger issue for me.

You will not see any ride quality change with whiteline

Let me just add to this that this fortunately the first time it happened was under warranty. The second time it happened was out of warranty, so even if you get it fixed at the dealership with the OEM part, it will break again! Its a bad design, kinda like the front passenger seat getting the infamous bubble, Had my front seat replaced and 3 years later, its baaaaaccck. Oh and if you even consider installing the part. Let me tell you almost the entire rear end has to be pulled apart to add thst bar with bushing. I know because during the first repair, the service manager took me to show me my car was being worked on and when i had seen all the parts he took out to do the job, my jaw dropped. Id wrather pay $800 any day to do a repair like that. What a nightmare to fix. And obviously not worth it sice there bushings suck a$$!!!

I don't have a leaky oem silicon bushing yet (36k miles) but as others have stated, it's inevitable. The procedure honestly is not too bad-- I'd rather work with this than put a BBK or full suspension on...

Check out this very thorough and insightful DIY write up TVPostSound did.

https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...-bushings.html

I'm taking the opportunity to switch to VLSD w/ 3.63FD and considering I have the replacement diff (which I scored for $200 shipped, has 60k miles on it from a '07 g35 sport) sitting in a crate in my garage already, I can do the Whiteline bushing install at my leisure then swap in the diff with fresh fluid and a new back cover (Nismo finned diff cooler like TVPostSound did) the following weekend.

I can see where it might be a bit more arduous if you need to remove, install bushings and get it all reinstalled in the same day, but after reading multiple threads here and 370z forums about putting whiteline bushings in, the biggest hang up tends to be having the right tool for the job on hand, ahead of time. In that thread I linked to above, a few other OG members chime in and provide pictures of the methods of attack and share what worked best for them. That info should be a great help to those moving forward with this and planning to make it a DIY like I am.
