I'm rwd, this mod is theoretically possible with the x provided you could match the front differential ratio with whatever ratio you go with in the rear. However the cost would be more. There would still be some unknown issues though , such as will the gearing fit in the front diff without modification. That is something that would only be known by opening up a front diff and trying to fit the pinion and ring gear.
If I had an x and really wanted this I'd buy a used front diff and start my research on what type of gearing is available.

finally got my 3.692 vlsd diff in over the weekend. I've had time to drive it in town and on the road. I haven't had any cels and things seems to be good.

The difference with acceleration is good. The car seems to always be ready to go. I think I would like the 3.90's even more.

Vlsd is huge. I don't spin my tire(s) nearly as much: it's just go. The RPM levels are barely noticable on the highway. 80 is a few hundred rpms more but you don't really notice. The best part is stepping on the pedal and the car just drops a gear and goes. On the city streets, the torque is great. Just touch the gas and it rolls nicely and when you need more just give it more.

First drive out I pegged the limiter... put it into ds and held 1st. it got there before I was ready. gears 1-2-3 are quick. you're way past the speed limit before you know it.

THIS is the best mod to date. You really feel the difference more than any other bolt on.

CHUCKIE- you are absolutely correct with how you handled the driveshaft. Just change the flange on the diff to the new diff and everything else remains the same. I wasted money on driveshafts and now have extra's to get rid of cheaply...

Solidus - you're right on reading too much into this easy swap. I did the same thing and ended up do what you did. I did need to drill out the new diff as it was threaded and my old one wasn't, but no big deal.

Knocked out three 0-60 performance logs today. 4.78, 4.74 and 4.76secs. Still at 13.4 AFR. Gotta send my logs back and gunning for 12.8 still. I have about a 1 day turnaround on tuning since I'm a procrastinator but I'm still hoping for a 4.5 and if I get in the 4.6's I'll take it.

I'm in the process of doing logs for Uprev tuning and I always do 2 or 3 0-60 logs and one normal highway log using Cipher. Basically you select performance logging and then mash and go. It will record 0-60 evendors though I have lately been ending up @ 78 or so. Tap the brakes or let off the gas and it shuts down and creates a file. Only thing better would be doing it at the track.

Still had a lot of spin even with 285 rubber. I have THE ace Uprev tuner so I have no doubt he'll have me ready for the track very soon. Funny thing is that when I had my Titan , guys that street tuned were often quicker at the track than those who were dyno tuned.

I have an exhaust coming. HKS... found a killer deal. Hopefully I won't need to wait as long to get this on. I want to eventually get uprev or one of the tunes, but that'll be last. I am a NA guy. FI looks and sounds nice but old school is old school. Bored and stroked is bad a@@. There is no substitute for cubic inches...

Arrrrrrgh!!!! You made me think about it!!!! ..........No! Got so caught up in the diff install we didn't think about the damned bushings till the diff was in. At that point I said screw it. They're sitting in a box in the garage. I have a feeling I may be buying some 3.91 gears later so I'll just install then.

I did the same thing. Was so frustrated with the getting the diff in that I completely forgot the bushings until after I started putting the wheels back on. By then it was like
fo' ged bout it..

Solidus - whad up,,, we are seriously thinking alike... 3.90's may be in the future.

A lady friend drove the g over the weekend. She's driven it before. This time when she got behind the wheel she stated what's with your car. It just wants to go! She punched it going on the freeway and was smiling until we got to speed. She drives an E 500 benz but was enjoying what this little G can do. I know the car is quicker but this confirms that it's much quicker if someone else feels it and doesn't know what the heck... DO THE MOD. It's the best bolt on for the money and worth the hassle of getting the right parts. JUST DO IT.

PST Carbon shaft ordered, scheduled to be shipped Thursday.
Now the decision is between a Z1 manifold or a Motordyne M370. At this point my aim is to quarter mile sub 13 seconds pre dyno. If I end up in the 13.0? range I'll get a set of Volks, and start light suspension mods and call it a day. If it's still in the 13.? range I'll go 3.91. We shall see.

Nice. A bit expensive, but might be worth it with gears.

I ordered some lightweight wheels and will be installing those with Michelin PSS to see if I can get around 13.4's. Last time at the track, my bald tires did not allow me to get better than 13.9, even though I was trapping better than cars hitting 13.3's.
