White line bushing

White line bushing

so my g is still under basic warranty and my rear diff bushing is busted. if I supply the whiteline kit do you think the dealership will install it for me? anybody had luck with it?

That depends completely on your dealership. You will absolutely be denied any future warranty coverage on anything remotely associated with it if you do that. Why would you need a dealership to do it? Any competent shop can do a job like this easily, and do it much cheaper.

I just figured while they were in there they could replace it with better parts. and my basic warranty is up in about 3weeks. and if this was done off warranty I wouldn't take it to a shop. id do it myself. just figured while I have warranty why bust my knuckles. is the diff or surrounding parts even considered part of the powertrain warranty that I will still have?

just got off the phone with the dealership and that is a negative on the white line bushing. they said they don't even bother with the bushing they put a whole new subframe in. so guess that's that.

That's wha tI thought. They don't do much repairing of anything at dealership shops, they just replace stuff. Bad synchros? Replace the whole transmission. Sticking fuel level float? Replace the whole fuel pump. Take it to a non dealership shop if you don't DIY.

When you're covered by warranty that's great. When paying out of pocket I'd rather competently repair something than replace it entirely and spend a ton more money if it isn't necessary.

I've seen them convince non car savvy people to replace a brake caliper for hundreds of dollars in labor when all it needed was a $14 rebuild kit and les than an hour labor.

Get the free subframe and alignment (insure they throw that in) while you can. I repaired mine on the LAST day of my warranty. When I pop it again, I'll toss the whiteline in.

exactly what I did. gave me a chance to drive that q50 again lol.

Couldnt agree more - this is a perfect example of why you should always avoid dealerships if it's on your dime.
