Clutch Safety Sensor?

Clutch Safety Sensor?
Hello all,
My 09 S coupe with 45k miles has started to take multiple presses of the ignition button to start for a few days and gotten worse. I got a new battery thinking that may be it because mine was a few years old anyway but that didnt help.
Essentially the clutch light stays on when I am trying to start the vehicle and I have to press the button tons to get it to start with the clutch engaged the entire time.
Called infiniti today and the tech said it sounds like a the car isnt recognizing the clutch being pushed in because of some safety sensor within the clutch?
Anyone heard of this before and if so does anyone know a fair price for it to be fixed?

There's a switch at both extremes of the clutch travel. Sounds like the switch that gets actuated when clutch pedal is to the floor is out of adjustment or broken. Probably something you could fix yourself. Start with making sure it's actually getting depressed when pedal is to the floor.

Get down in the floor of your car and take a look. Press the clutch pedal down all the way by hand. You'll see a stopper on the pedal arm that is designed to depress the clutch interlock switch. If it's working correctly, when the pedal is all the way down, the switch will be fully depressed. If the switch is broken you'll be able to tell. If it' somehow out of adjustment, you can simply adjust the switch to stick up a few mm further so that full clutch pedal depression fully engages the switch.

it's the switch. grab a new one from the dealer. they are cheap. ~$20 or less IIRC. i had to change out the switch on my '04 G35. they wear out over time and stop working properly. i would get intermittent bouts of frustration trying to start my car. i thought it was serious until i did some reading and realized it was just the switch. very easy DIY.
until you get the part i would just bypass the switch. pull it out and jump the leads to close the circuit. this tricks the computer into thinking the pedal is depressed. just be sure not to leave your car in gear...

Thanks for the helps guys!
Infiniti priced the part out at $23 so thats pretty sweet.
I'll take a look at the pics for the DIY but I'm def not mechanically inclined, they did say labor would be something like $108. So worst case if I can't figure out the install then its not that expense in case anyone else has the same issue.
That pricing was from Infiniti around Nashville fyi.
