I'm also in the need for an engine for my 2008 G37S Auto. There's a wrecker that has a 2013 Engine Infiniti G37 IPL Auto. Would anyone know if this could fit?

from my experience when I researched mine, I saw no incompatibilities throughout the years. I'm certain that that engine will work for you, even if it was an X model, which is what I ended up buying.

I would just call my local dealer and research. They may even have a connection for used units as well.

Appreciate the feedback SharpByCoop & socketz67. I did call my local Infiniti dealership as well, and they confirmed that it should fit. The confusion was due to the local wrecker who said it won't.

Thanks again.

Just to help 08 owners, any engine from may 2012 and up from a 370, is a direct fit, sensors and all. I just put a 2014 370z engine in my 08 g37, and everything was a direct swap, except I needed to plug 1 small coolant hose used for a closed loop system....

Thank you sir. I've been waiting patiently for my funds to collect for a replacement engine. I just wanted to know if I could find a very low mileage 370z engine without those stupid paper gaskets. Done deal!

Thanks again bud!

I don't believe that's correct at all. I don't think the transmission or wiring is just a plug and play change.

Sorry to bump a 6 year old thread lol. but does anyone know compability between specific years/body styles? I have a 08 g37s coupe, there’s a pretty sweet deal nearby, but it’s from a 12 g37 sedan RWD. The guy on the phone told me it wouldn’t fit, he even said if I do buy it, they won’t warranty it or accept returns since it will be installed on a different vehicle. I called Infiniti, the parts guy said they have different part numbers, but it’s basically the same engine, but he wouldn’t try it. I called lkq and they said it won’t fit, might have different things. So what’s up? Is this really a big deal or just minor differences that can be swapped out of the old engine and on to the new? Help much appreciated.

Care to be more specific? If it’s something that can be swapped from one engine to the other I’m fine with that. If it’s much more than swapping things here and there, I don’t know if it’s worth the trouble.

Thanks

I've already explained this before. The engine will interchange but things like injectors had minor changes over the years, some random sensors as well. Just swap it all over off your old engine.
Your real problem will be, now the guy your purchasing from will refuse to warranty the engine because he claims it won't fit.
Go find one from a 370z from may 2012 and newer. They have everything sensor wise that your 08 has, and they also have the metal timing cover gasket. The only difference is a coolant rerouting hose that you can easily cap off.
