It could have something to do with the AC, but its nothing like a normal AC surge. Its pretty obvious in any other car. In fact, you can usually hear the compressor kick on and off.. I'm positive this is something electronic. We're not talking about a small surge. Imagine pulling up to a stop light and doing what you would do if you were trying to get the guy next to you to race. I literally have to hold the brake down firmly while the car surges forward, revving every second or so. It was pretty amusing tho when the soccer Mom next to me actually thought I was trying to race her mini van. She even squacked her tires a bit on launch.. Haha!
